I need to vent.
My ski hill has a deal ever spring where they sell their season passes for ~$100 cheaper than the normal price. I've been getting that price every year I've had a pass.
This year, however, I was planning on living 1,600km south of where I am now for University, but at the last moment decided I'd rather take a program at the local college for a year or two and then head off to another school, leaving me time to save money and ski with my friends.
So, I went to the ski hill office to ask about the possibility of getting the discount price, as I've been a customer for years and have helped them with some stuff.
I talked to the old hag there, the one everyone hates, but surprisingly enough she was nice to me, and told me that; although I can't get the sale price, there's a new "student sale" coming up until October where I'd only be spending an extra $20 on top of the sale price. Sounds good to me, she said to come back in a week for a finalized price.
It's now 2 weeks, so I went in to check the finalized price today:
Me: "Hi, I came in here a couple weeks ago about the season pass sale, and you mentioned a new sale that was coming up"
Her: "Oh, we're not doing that anymore"
Me: "But you said there was a student sale"
Her: "I know perfectly well what I said. We've done that in the pass because of the 4-day school week, but decided not to this year"
Me: "Oooook"
Her: "But I can offer you a 10-day pass for that price."
Me: "Mmm... no"
Her: "Yes!" (what the fuck?)
Me: "Uh, no, I guess I'll just have to pay the full price"
Her: "But it's not the full price" (what the fuck?)
After that I just left, I can't believe this lady. She tells me of a sale and then tells me it's not going to happen, and then tries to offer me a 10-day pass for the same price as the sale, which is a total ripoff.
What's worse, my mom had to deal with this lady 2 years ago when my brother fractured his neck in two places on the hill. We had bought insurance on our pass which means if, for some reason, you can no longer used your pass part-way through the year (this occured in the beginning of the year), they give you a partial refund depending on how far it is into the year. This lady basically told my mom they weren't going to compensate her for the pass despite that fact my brother was injured (millimeters away from becoming a quadripalegic) within the first few weeks the hill opened. My mom came back later when another employee was in and they refunded her with no hassles.
I guess the lady has had many many complaints, but the resort won't fire her because she's old and her ex-husband ran the resort at one point in time. I say can her ass.
