I think flash memory simply means that it can't skip at all. The Shuffle has it. The mini and 20 gig and above have hard-drive memory, which means they eventually skip. All small mp3 player's have flash memory.

by not skip, he means songs skipping while playing.
flash is a way to store memory that doesnt have any moving parts making it perfect for areas that might get bumped around. ipods with 20 gb or even the ipod mini have hard drives in them which have to start up (one part spins while a head reads it) so lots of moving around will eventually break them. flash is a more expensive way to store memory, but it is a lot more durable. you can do everything on it that you can do with a hard drive
