agreeeeed lanksy pants...you nailed it...but my point still stands...regardless of what would get picked for a movie etc....it IS a way to progress tricks without spinnin to win, however i think that if at any point it jeapordizes the general style of the trick than it isnt worth it

how about this...since i have already talked about the unnatural jumps and stuff, how about all the crazy rail stuff that is going on now...which would u say should has more rights to be in a movie: a smooth switch on to switch off OR a 270 on,270 off...

Ok this is about the progression of skiing versus snowboarding thing. I think what may be the point in which we are equal with snowboarders or past them in progression is when seeing a switch take off or landing in powder is normal instead of say, the last clip of a segment yet all the other jumps are forward takeoffs and landings, in the past 2 years we have seen a big step in backcountry booters, with cork 5's and 9's into powder, and the odd switch cork 7, these are the tricks we want to see, we have seen them a million times on park jumps and it is now a time where the pros need to step up those tricks to the backcountry which they are aware of, this is because every mountain you go to there will be a kid throwing those tricks over tables.

Also spinning onto urban rails on a snowboard is at a stage where it is a normal trick right now, in skiing we don't even really see spins onto urban rails yet.

There are alot of things snowboarders have on us right now but skiing is getting really close, I say in about 2 years we will be equal or ahead of snowboarding if everything goes as well as I imagine. I also think a big part of skiing's progression is making it far into the marketing industry like snowboarding already has done, they have tons of video games, magazines, even toys! You are considered "cool" if you snowboard, yet right now if you freestyle ski you have to earn respect, and you don't start off with it.

About the unnatural thing I totally agree with Lanks...there are alot of shots in movies that are unnatural but it's not exactly the styliest trick yet they get more recognition than if it was the same trick natural but the natural spin or slide was 100 times more stylie...look at snowboarding, they don't even claim unnatural spins.

new topic...is it wise to invest in the smaller new ski companies like liberty 9ward faction surface etc, because they have less experience and havent produced skis as long? or is it better to consider them the future of the sport, and support them now with the idea that they will become the new k2, salomon, rossi etc?


i have my own opinion considering i ski for a small company, but im always intested to hear what people have to say

gahh haha...i dont even want to comment on the 1 foot thing...i think that having such controversy over a simple trick in the first place is not the direction we should be going in...if you dig it then cool...if you think its lame then whatever..i dont have an opinion either way except for that i think that we should have tricks or images in our sport than can be appreciated by some but not by all...thats what an individual style is all about...you shouldnt ski to please everyone...if some people like your tricks than great...but there is no sense in having arguments on it...it is what it is

Ok this is realy the last one: What do you think about all these up-and-comming movie/ski/soft-good companies...Did snowboarding ever experience this? In five years, wat companies do u still being around/why? Will these be a constant part of skiing, allways poping up then dissapearing?
