Hi guys, if you've nowt to do on Saturday, Sept. 10th, check out the S.W.A.R.M. arts festival afterparty, being held at 1320 East Hastings St., Vancouver BC., in partnership with Pacific Association of Artist Run Centres (PAARC), Anti-Social skateboarding. If you saw the M.I.A./LCD Soundsystem party, or the Emily Carr Arts Institute grad party, we be the same crew. It'll be a great time. Doors at 10pm.

Yeah it's important that it's held in Strathcona - that's where the art scene really lives, ghetto as it is. No ski shops on this block, that's for sure. The spot is really big and nice, though. A/C too!

Actually that's a bit of a myth dogg. The really bad part is what's referred to as the East Hastings CORRIDOR, which is actually only four blocks of E Hastings, and three blocks of W Hastings (which is only blocks away from Howe/financial district). The spot is in a pretty nice part of Hastings, but it shouldn't really matter, since the ppl in the 'bad' part of Hastings may be poor, on drugs, whatevs, but they will never attack strangers unprovoked. I walk the corridor all the time with a $2000 Powerbook in my bag, and the Blanche McDonald/modelling academy girls walk Gastown/E.H. corridor all the time with ZERO sexual harrasment. In all honesty there's more danger on the UBC campus res.

i just remember driving through that corridor and seeing a scene that i had never seen in canada before. it was a reality check after a whistler vacation for sure.

True that - the first time, on a visual level, it floors you. The blank desparation in these ppl's eyes - it's not like a squeegee kid who just ran away from a suburban household to go on a meth binge and 'slum it' before rehab - this is all these ppl have ever known. Check the Godspeed You Black Emperor! song "East Hastings" written about the corridor, it's pretty sick (they used it on the soundtrack for 28 Days Later too).

I cant wait until I turn 19, I mean I walked down granville street 15min ago and it was incredible, ppl waiting to get into clubs everywhere, hot HOT chicks everywhere, I saw 2 limo buses, 2 cars with spinners, and all that in 10 minutes of walking . So let me in please because im really pissed off. And the only back to school party was the Back Street Boys concert. Just kidding
