so when i move there. i figure i might bight the bullet and get a cell phone. evil bastard contraptions of death. anywho... i found a cell phone at work in the lost and found and i am allowed to take it. does kyocera (through telus) get half decent reception in whis. im not going to be using much. basically only when i make a call. so i dont care if it doesnt work out behind flute or something.

I dont know... I'm on a Telus plan and my phone tweaks. Sometimes I dont get my messages till an hour after they've been sent and in areas the reception sucks. But then again maybe its my phone, its getting older!

^why would you say "boycott telus" and then encourage someone to get a landline? The first reason that comes to mind that you want people to boycott is because of the strike situation. In that case, you should encourage people to go the cell phone route. Telus mobility is not part of the strike. If that is what is pissing you off. If not, just disregard this post.

^ Actually Erica, it's a Lockout, not a strike. And Telus Mobility is just as involved with the Labour Dispute as the other half of the company. I did not mean to sound like I was contradicting myself, all I was saying is that if you do decide to get a landline, (not that I encourage it right now) the service is extremely backed up. Telus has hired SCABS to do the work of union members right now, but they have not hired very many, and they absolutely suck at their jobs and are not efficient at all. They are over 11,000 jobs behind at the moment, and any service work requested, will not be complete for quite some time. I am not trying to pick on you Erica, I just want everyone to know the facts.
My reccomendation: get a rogers cell phone.

i miss whistler too... telus sucks... but LG sucks even more. the shitty LG phones telus gives you have possibly the worst reception of any cell phone ever made. I got sucked in for 3 years with the evil corporation and have to pay 350$ to quit my contract. I dropped my phone from a height of 12 inches and now the screen is all fuzzy... no warranties either. Plus they sold me a defective phone that has a software problem where the phone 75% of the time doesnt recognize the AC adapter so you charge it all night and the battery is still dead in the morning. When I took it in to the Telus store in nesters to have the software upgrade I was told that the idiot store manager scratched to CD with the software upgrade on it and I'd have to go to the city. When I went to the city they had no idea what I was talking about, even though Telus had sent me a recal notice in the mail. What is the moral of this story.... avoid telus at all costs... there are many better options out there.

i just moved to whistler almost a month ago.... I bought my first self phone and bit the bullet.. Its totally worth it. If you want to make money and keep making money its a great investment. Don't think of it as something that will present you a problem. A cell phone is a nice thing to have to stay in touch with employers or future emplyers..
Bell... Lg.. extream plan is way to go.

Depending on how long you are going to be here, eventually Bell will have the best reception/coverage of everyone. Being the big giant Olympic sponsor they are, they will be putting a poop-load of towers around town, and probably putting up enough towers to cover the entire sea-to-sky corridor in the next couple of years.
