That is what our LINE buyer told us today at work, and that they are not shipping until late Oct. He also said that they have a new VP of something and that not going to SIA was apparently a change that he made. I may be way off, but this is what I heard.

if they have already made their shop orders and have no scheduled meetings...then why waste the money if they dont feel that they get a return...the purpose of those shows is to meet with dealers and finalize orders for the next season...it is not about giving out stickers.
the booth space is uber expensive, the hotels cost cash, add on travel and stripper expenses and you have to sell more than a few skis to make up for it

^ exactly, SIA is an expensive proposition.
I don't know why you would automatically assume that Line has made a bad move.

most of their shit is already out its just there second batch of skis they are shippping out
and i dont think SIA is really worth it. all it is is one big hype for there shit. they can just do there site earlier than SIA and it'd be the same thing if better

Isn't SIA Jan 23-26th anyway? And shouldn't everyone have their equipment by then? So who cares?

Ya Line's not going to SIA this year. For those that don't know, SIA is a big show that is shops and brands go to learn about the next years brands. It can be a great thing for larger companies, but very expensive for smaller ones like LINE. LINE felt that it would be best for us to talk to shops on a more personal level this year and come to your territories. By not going to SIA we are freeing up a ton of money to sponsor dope events for you and travel more to everyone's territories to bring the brand to you.

Think about what you just said for a second... when was the last time LINE started ANY trend in skiing.... ?
Thats right. NEVER.

i meant they were the first to have skis with twin tips, and yes they were skiboards.

skiboards do not equal skis.. and if memory serves me correct Jay had some less than cordial things to say about skiers at the time.
K2 rekeased the poacher, a full lenth twin tip in '97. At least a year before any of the other ski company was doing anything with twin tip skis. No one even knew what to do with that ski...
The Following season was the year that Line released their first full lenth twins. It was the same year that Salomon released the 1080 to the public, (its development began in 97) The Volant machete, Rossi powair, and K2 with the enemy....
That being said, its worth mentioning that NONE of these companies were single handedly responsible for starting "the trend" of twintip skiing. It was a colaborative effort.

well all im saying is line made short skis with twin tips, im not saying they made full size twins

Thats funny, cause two posts ago you tried to tell me that line was responsible for the twin tip ski trend...
did you forget about that already?

Either way you are wrong... they arent responsible for the "twin tip" trend. Try something else.

It's quite the argument, but you are pretty much correct, Line was making the skiboard movement and hadn't moved to full length twins just yet, and Salomon had been developing the ski for the riders, but was not the first to get to release it to the public, only the team riders rode it before the Poacher came out(Make note, thats like right now, everyone skiing on non-twintips and seeing Thall ride armadas, EVERYONE knows about them and wants them.)
Either way, everyone dropped their first twins around the same time, and not one company single handly changed the ski landscape.

haha... "jonathan". armadaar6, you're an idiot.
there's so many misconceptions and rumors in this thread (mostly towards the top of it) that's it's crazy. soup's comments are the worst. a) this is not the "second batch" coming from china. no retailer has their 05/06 line skis yet unless they were the rep's demos. b) sia is not for the public and thus updating their website sooner is not their goal. companies go to sia to get buyers to place orders, not the public. keeping it secret from the public induces more hype.
