This information came to me from a very politicaly active friend and I know its long but its something you all should read and take action about. thank you

Regardless of party affiliation, there are some very important issues going on right now which have not received a great deal of media attention and will affect all of our lives in very personal ways. The greatest threat american's face is not from our elected officials, but from those that they appoint. Currently Dr. David Hager is being considered for the chair of the Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee at the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is the group responsible for controlling drugs pertaining to contraceptives, abortion (like mifepristone/RU 486/'abortion pill') & HRT. Dr. Hager is exeedingly conservative, refusing to prescribe birth control to unmarried women in his practive as a gynocologist. He believes that emergency contraceptive or the morning-after pill is a form of abortion and should be outlawed. His appointment would be a threat to women's health in the US.
The other nominee i would like to call your attention to is Michael McConnel, to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. he is violently opposed to the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act which protects our freedom to walk into a clinic or doctor's office w/o being violently assaulted by anti-choice activists. He is interested in overturning Roe vs. Wade.
If either of these nominees concerns you, as they do me, then please voice your opinion. Here are websites w/ pre-written letters protesting each of them to the white house and senate. or, of course, you can write you own, call your representative, etc. only takes a few seconds, so PLEASE make your voice heard.

hey, i'll make my voice heard. do you know what partial birth abortion is?
first the cut the back of the babies skull open, then using a vacum tube, suck the brains out of the baby with tremendous pain, by the way, none of this happens with anesthetics.
also, how do you know the baby your aborting isn't going to affect history, be the one to cure cancer or aids, be a president, or help the cause of peace.
plus, if your scared enough of having a baby, dont have sex

Aggro-skate, you obviously have no idea what this thread is about, so shut your mouth. We aren't talking about second or third-period abortions here, this is night-after stuff.

I am pro-choice, and I believe that everyone should choose life.

aggro_sk8, assuming you have a sister or some other girl in your life that you care for, what would you do if she was raped and whoever raped her got her pregnant? Should she be required by law to keep that baby?

i do have a girl i care about. and, from a moral standpoint i would have to say yes. i'm a firm believer in the 10 commandments, that includes the one that says 'Thou shalt not kill'. the baby has done nothing, and to kill an innocent life would be wrong, no matter what the circumstance. i thought about this, and i came to the conclusion, that i would have to say yes. the girl should give it up for adoption, but should not kill it.

and the 'rape' senario is used to justify abortion for other senarios (such as an acidental pregnancy) way to often

i can't say i respect your beliefs, b/c that would pretty much be endorsing you, but i do respect the polte and respectful way you present yourself and your beliefs.

i also think that with Republicans controlling the house, the senate, and the president, there will be something POSITIVE (i.e.- antiabortion)done soon

also, if you can't make a good decision about abstinence, birth control, and condoms, how can you make a good decision about ending a life?

what about the nine month gestation period in which the woman that was raped has to remember and be reminded every second of the day of the moment she was stripped of her status as a human being, and treated as a piece of meat for some praying man? and i know that i'm not embracing your opinion. i think it is a very right wing - closeminded one. if u can choose to rape and pillage other human beings in different ways, woman should at least have the right to take away as much pain from rape that is currently possible. u say what if this embryo was to be the world saviour, etc.. but what if a starving child in africa was to invent some saving grace.. i could go on, but i'll stop.
