Engine swap

Has anyone ever heard of an engine swap on w21 pathfinder. I have a 95 and it is a gas hog and it has no power. I heard of some guy swaping for a holden crate motor but would I have to create new engine mounts?

you can swap anything into anythign with a bit of work. I would assume that Yes you'll have to create new mounts since its not an OEM engine. you'll also have alot of other things to worry about like tranny compatibilty and electronics. I looked on the nissan4wheelers forum and there arent any threads about a holden crate.

Swaps arent easy...I worked on an explorer swap and even though we were putting in the identical stock engine it was still a huge pain.

toyota and nissan are basically the same except nissans are less expensive and last longer

yes your biggest issues will probably be fitment and wiring the engine into the ecu. but good luck though i want to put a diesel engine in my vw.

are you swapping to a bigger or smaller engine? take it in for a tune up new plugs wires cap, change ALL fluids diff, radiator, steering, brakes , trans, all of thing will make you car run much better. check to make sure your filters are clean. the cheapest route to go would to build a stroker moter. any engine swap will cost atleast 3000.

The engine is just underpowered. My dad has a full automotive shop so there would be no cost in labor I just need to find a sutible engine around 250 hp I am willing to spend ~2500

golden stroker engines kick ass i had the 4.8L version in my old jeep. 300hp at the wheels. ive you have a stroked six cyclinder you will have better low end torque thats what gives you good acceleration.

I have no clue if it fits, but what about a z-motor (preferably twin-turbo)? People probably wreck these all the time. I would think you could find one at a junk yard.

Another idea, what about a small block 350. That is a very common swap in toyota pick ups?

I have no experience at all swapping nissan motors, just some ideas.

small block 350 would be pretty easy. the TT Z engine would be expensive i would think. PLus converters for drivshafts trans ect.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have a '97 xe p/u. They only had 4-cyl. that year, and the thing is a dog.

Horsepower is something like 134 in a vehicle that weighs probably close to 2-ton. Not a very good power-to-weight ratio.

putting a small block 350 in a pathfinder would be a pain in the ass. there's not that much room under the hood, and with that much of an increase in torque and horsepower, you probably wouldn't be able to use the stock nissan transmission.

It would probably be easier to modify the existing engine.
