Well here it is. I work in a ski/snowboard/sk8baord shop and Analog dont want our shop to carry their brand anymore because we carry SKIS.
I think this is stupid cuz I was supporting their shit a lot because it looks great and everything and they just dont want skiing to get any bigger than that or whatever.
I dont knw if Im clear but Id like to know what you guys think about that.

of couse thats what your going to wear you work for them you dumbass.
for years burton ripped on skiers, they still do, as soon as skiing becomes "cool" they see that they can make some money and start putting skiers on anon. its fucking shady, companies that support both sports, skiing and snowboarding have been their from the beggining, burton simply hasent. they waited it out to see if it was worth their money. fuck anon fuck burton.

at some point we are all going to realize that it's the same industry. this whole snowboarding vs. skiing thing is lame. from now on i think all comps should be everyone against everyone. let the revolution begin.

I said they are looking to SPONSOR skiers. Words from a company employee. More than a rumor?

Apparently Chris Benchetler is sponsored by NFA, so maybe some brands like Anon do get interested in skiing

Well just to say one thing, i have seen Analog sold in the same place as skis. My local shop sells both Orage, and Analog. I think that all companies schould have snowboarders, and skiers on their teams. I think that everybody schould want to sell to everyone. Hell i would like to ride for special blend, or maybe there are some riders that would like to ride for Orage.

I didn't read the whole thread but Waynewong posted seemingly excellent questions. Here's the short answers even though I have no involvement with this dude shop....
Burton is made of several smaller brands that they have created these days. They also have a program called "Coalition Shops". The idea is that these Coalition shops are the most core shops and go back to the heart of snowboarding. They are entitled to sell the Analog line and the two boards, two boots and two bindings that are featured in the Coalition program because they ONLY sell SKATE,SURF,SNOWBOARDS out of their shops. Shops who sell skis are ineligible for these products. Bottomline. The reps constantly have to deal with heat from large accounts that want to be privy to these products and are not permitted to order them.
Hope that this helps to clear it up.

I was just at Ski Market, and the had plenty of Analog gear, so I think the part about ski shops not being allowed to carry it is BS.

Exactly, thats the thing, they said we werent "core" because we sell skis and cross country skis, therefor we cant carry analog and one dominant board and one uninc board as well as some bindings. but I dont really care cuz we got Volcom now and their shit is way sicker.

Not all shops that sell skis are banned from coalition products. I know of one shop in particular that has been a long time Burton supporter and recently started selling twins. They are still carrying all coalition products side by side with Line, K2 and Salomon. I believe the no ski shop rule is to prevent shops that have no "clue" from capitilizing on Burtons popularity. That being said money rules everything and you can guarentee Burton will sell coalition to any shop that wants to order big.

The choice of which shops get coalition products is at the discretion of the sales rep in that territory.
The information that I posted on here was directly from her mouth. In my territory, NO shops with skis get coalition products.

why are surfboards and skateboards ok though? those have nothing to do with being core to snowboarding.

my shop carries analog. we are also one of the biggest ski shops on the east coast, so analog not supporting skiing has nothing to do with it.

I don't think local sales reps get to make that call but putting a good word in for the shops helps. This shop I speak of has a long history with Burton and only sells twin tips. 16 years or so of pushing their product makes them tight with the giant Mc snowboarding giant. Maybe its harder in the states than in Canada? I don't know.

My shop places orders with Burton that are mutiple $100,000's. If money ruled the Burton Coalition program then we would definitely have the product, and trust me we want it.
The facts for us though (and maybe not in other people's territories) is that in SoCal, only BOARDSPORTS shops get Coalition products according to the Burton Sales Representatives for my territory.
The reason why it's surf, skate, snowboarding is because #1 Analog has made moves into skating, #2 Out here the core shops sell skate and surf in the summer, #3 Burton sees themself as a "Boardsports" company not just snowboarding anymore. This is evident in their ownership of Gravis skate shoes and their skate lifestyle line that will be unveiled next spring.

i don't mind snowboard companies moving into the skiing world. hell id love to see the same companies sponsoring snowboarders and skiers. we are both on snow, do similar things, why not rock the same gear? burton/analog make sick stuff. for anyone just saying they are jumping on the bandwagon, well i wouldn't exactly describe it like. let's face it skiing 10 years ago was "uncool". It is getting cool now. I think it is a compliment that snowboard companies are recognizing skiing in that sense. It just means more money will be put into snowsports, not just snowboarding. it will mean more progression for both sports and sicker places to ride. im stoked. i can't wait for analog to have a skiing team.
