Depends on why they take it though. I took them all throughout highschool for football. Never so much to bulk up--a little in the offseason--but more for the strain football puts on your muscles everyday. Even if your strong it still takes a toll on your body. Maybe your friends take it to keep their muscles healthy. Thats what I did.
And for ^^^ if your looking to take them to build up muscle be warned that you have to work out a TON because if you dont protien gets metabolized into fat if you dont use up all of what you put in. Theyre good though. Id take them if you have a decent workout routine and schedule.

the reason people dont do it naturally is because to acheive the same amount of protein intake as the shake, youd have to eat a ton of food, ton of fats, carbs, and calories. Its the easiest way to get protien to your muscles without all of the food. The only think i didnt know was the toll it has on growing bodies?
and it wotn help gain muscle unless you work the muscles. it keeps them healthy though, it prevents muscle loss, helps with weight loss (assuming yo active) and keeps muscles protein content high.
Yeah it can have a toll if youre still in your big growing stage. So long as your using them as just what the name says....supliments. You cant rely on them purely for protien. Milk, steak, eggs, etc are still really good to have there too

Yeah it aint that good for you. Id stay away from any of the real crazy stuff out there. Though the only one thing I might reccommend is that theres this gel that you rub onto your ski and helps to break up the fatty tissue into your bloodstream so you can burn it off. It worked for me. So you can lose fat where you want to. But you gotta work your ass to the bone after using it

the only time protein is IDEAL is directly after a workout. at this time the muscles are torn down and benefit the most and builds the muscles back up. also right before you go to bed is a very ideal time for protein. naturally this is when your body does the most growing. my brother and i was a body builder for about 2 years and my brother is one, and we found that the key to gaining wieght is your diet more than protein shakes.
what you need to do if figure out how much Cals/Fat/Protein/Carbs you eat per day.
A 200lb man should eat 200 grams/protein; 300g/carbs, and 5,500/cals per day, at the very least. metabolism and genetics also play a huge part.
and when you hear kids that say "man i eat a shitload but can never gain a pound, i have crazy metabolism" it's bullshit cause they eat a lot of shit food, and not enough of it to begin with. i need to stop now before i begin to Rumble
protein shakes r fine but shouldnt be your only source of protein. many people use them because geting 300-400 grams of protein a day from food is tough to do especially when you have school, work, sports ect.
as for the no2, wouldnt really advise using it, its not that its bad for u, it just kind of a scam and costs a shit load. a pump isnt what gets you big, ya it feels cool when your in the gym but doesnt ammount to anything after your done working out. heavy ass weights, compound movements and lots of food is what gets you big. that money your spending on no2 could be used much better if you invested in a good multi vitamin and some creatine ethyl ester or some of the new forms of creatine.
On of the guys I work with is really into working out and he was explaining to me that the ratios should be 1 gram protine to 2 grams of charbs for every pound of body weight for optimal weight gain because your body needs to use energy to rebuild, and if you dont have that energy there its going to break down the protines and use them for energy to build, and you wont be getting your moneys worth of protiens in your diet.

yea i heard it kinda was a scam but i got this huge discount so got the entire bottle for like 30 bucks...
you're def right about feeling it in the gym, it pumps up your muscles rediculously while lifting but after... seldomly has any noticeable effects
it is motivation to lift hard so i suppose it's doing somethign for me, and its not bad for ya compared to creatine and alotta other stuff so im content
creatine is not bad for you tho, if u think its bad for u dont eat beef or fish becasue those both contain creatine and it also produced natually in your body.
the whole creatine is bad for u is a bunch of shit, almost anyone serious about training uses creatine.
no2 is worthless, but if u like wasting 30 bucks go for it. hope that pump feelin is worth the 30 bucks cuz it isnt doing anything else for ya.
increased dosage of creatine is terrible for you... it works well while you're on it but I dare you to stop using it and see what happens
creatine fucks up your natural muscle signals (responsible for muscle growth and rejuvenation) your muscled become dependent on the almost fake amounts of nutrients and wont function the same after unless you carefully decrease dosage over an extended period of time
i know someone who used creatine, got big... quit using it and is now so damn small...
all creatine really does is retain water, it's bullshit and not worth it
I use 100% whey protein powder. 2 scoops + water makes a drink after a workout, and have 1 scoop when you wake up in the morning. It rebuilds and strengthens the muscles you break down during a workout. I was 136 pounds for the last three years, couldnt gain a pound...went to the gym on a good plan and whey protein this summer and in 2 months ive gotten up to 144.
They say hydrolized whey protein isloates are the easiest to digest, I personally like Cyto sports "Muscle Milk" It's not just a protein powder, It has tons of vital aminos, creatine, energy boosters, and it uses casein protein. Milk proteins can be classified as either whey's or caseins. Wheys are say short term and caseins are more of a long term. I drink a muscle milk every 6 hours or so everyday. I've been having great results with this shit, they are hands down the best tasting supplement powder on the market. They are pretty expensive in GNC but you can find 2.48lb tubs on the internet for about 15$ (40$ at gnc) which has 30 scoops (15 servings) (30 servings if you mix with milk) Check that shit out sucka
Yeah I lifted for 9 months and gained 1 pound 2 years ago, this summer I got on a bulking diet and learned about excerises for gaining mass and I've put on 15 pounds in the last 6 weeks
i gained just fine that way. i went from 190 this time last year to 230 in february, it worked for me, like i said it depends A TON on genetics and your natural metabolism
ok first off muscles retain water, all creatine does is maximize the amount of water your muslces can retain. it doesn't "fuck you up" if you drink water. it's dumbshits that take it and then think they can chill and they'll magically get bigger are the idiots that get fucked up. if you use some common sense and know a little about the product...
explain how taking creatine is terrible for you. if you get it from beef and fish should you not eat meat becasue it will raise creatine levels in your body??
if u take the newer types of creatine you dont gain water weight. what you gain while on creatine you can keep once your off it if your diet is right. people that take monohydrate do gain water weight and lose the weight once there off it but they can keep the muscle they gained if the diet is in check. diet is key no matter what your taking, if its not everything you gained will be lost.
^monohydrate is pointless. the point of creatine IS to gain water weight, it's leaner muscle...if with monohydrate you don't gain any water weight then you may as well just annie fricken up and eat some better food, gain the muscle that way instead of wastin your time with putting excess chemicals in your body...
all creatine does is allow your muscle cells to retain more water... thereby making you LOOK bigger not become stronger and you gain weight because of the extra water obviously. studies have shown that if you drink enough water throughout the day the body will naturally force it into your muscle cells...creatine is also potentially dangerous because the excess that is not used is stored in your kidneys and makes kidney stones. your body can only use 3 grams of creatine per day as well...and its effects on the heart are not known either...gotta remember that thats a muscle too
Whe you hate your job you dont strike. you just go in everyday and do it reeaally half-assed. its the American way!
whoever said whey protein contributes to cancer, I sure as hell haven't heard that one before. Besides, just like anything else, you have to use the right amount. If you don't exercise ENOUGH for the amount you use, then it is just going to be wasted.
i dont even use creatine but it seems many of u have the wrong impression of it. creatine just doesnt cause u 2 gain water weight, some types can but with the new creatines out on the market u gain little to no water weight. the reason creatine is beneficial is it raises atp levels in your muscles allowing you to lift heavier weights for longer periods of time, this is how it makes you stronger.
I just actualy read that a few weeks ago, something about the carbs transporting the protein to the muscle or some such nonsense. But I have been gaining a lot of weight (a lot of which is muscle) on my bulking diet which is comprised primarily of the 3-1 concept
i've heard that they are in the middle of re-making the food pyramid for some reason i cant remember , but ya ive used the EAS Myoplex after i worked out and i noticed a difference than with out it
mcmaster pat you are an idiot for saying protein gets metabolized into fat. i didn't read below your post to see if anyone else said this already but there you hear it.
you are one giant piece of internet suck -...focus....
protein is metabolized into glucose if not taken with carbs, try to get a 2:1 carb:protein ratio, if not that expensive protein powder isnt doing shit for ya
it gets metabolized into fat if you're a lazy ass and take protein with the misconception that you don't need to work as hard to get bigger. seriously there's so many dumbshits out there.
As for creatine, i say fuck it. i'm 6'5" 230 and have never taken a scoop in my life. you don't need it if you work hard and eat right/a lot
