Just curious to what most people think a range of posts by members constitutes as being valid, i know if the person speaks with thought and doesnt act like a dip shit they get recognition but i look at alot of stuff and people are always talking about stuff like ' you only have ____ posts, what do you know' and stuff like that. I know alot of the new guys that first come on this site dont always know what the flow of things around here is and get upset easily and are really defensive, they try to build up an image to fast. I've been on this site for about 1.5 years now, i joined right when this site changed from its previeous format to this one. I dont post as much as others, i mainly just read what people got to say and post every now and then. I got something like 505 posts or somthing wich seems very minor to people who have posts in the 1000's. so my question remains, what seems to be the point when people are taken seriously or at least get some respect, for me its about the 250+ post mark for people i dont know just cause it take me a while to get an idea what that person may be like.

Thats a very good point you bring up. I mean I have been a member of ns since the beginning and I don't have that many posts either (I think like 500 or so). Its a big concern of mine that people may get turned away from newschoolers if they are treated badly right off the start. Having said that, you can't just come into things and expect respect. Respect is earned. I think that if you make some valid points in your posts eventually you become respected. As far as a magic number of posts or even a range I wouldn't want to hazard a guess. Its all in the way you present yourself.
I don't know, what do you guys think?

I tottaly agree with what you said on earning respect. I also think to many people come on here at first expecting it to be like most other fourms that are crowded with useless posts and all the hating. I find that that organization of this site keeps the crap in one big pile.

I work an 8-5 job that allows me to be on the internet all day. If I wasn't posting shit I'd be talking to myself and probably lose my job so....it's a cycle!

ya dude ive been here since the change over form the old site and i only got 400, i seem to go on droughts where i dont post for like a month, and i didnt come on in the summer that much, but i dont care how man posts i have as long as they arent retarded

I only post because I am bored at work and there are masses of young and formative people on this site and it is fun to mess around and watch the outcome. Most of my posts bear little resemblace to reality.

I couldn't give two hoots what anyone thinks of me or my image because I'm quite secure about my job, life and what I get out of it.



Bawb, I can trace this wanting for abuse back to your childhood i see it all the time. See growing up you had two dads, whereas everyone else you knew had a dad and a mom. This put you in the 'outsider' catagory right off the bat. Some of your earliet memories were bad sounds coming from your parents bedroom. The crack of leather whips and chains echoed through the hall of your mobile home. One day when you braved the nerve to open the door to this room of horror. I have never regarded a person's knowledge based on their post count. i base their knowledge on personal knowledge, and what they wrote themselves. And I try to respect those that show that tehy deserve respect.

Yeah really! I got here sorta towards the begining, I was here way before I even became a member, before I figured out that NS had forums! HAHA what a great time, I thought this site only had pics, vids, and articles. It was the time around when the White Hoodie Revolution was full blown. Those were the days.

I dunno I have respect for people that have been here a while and have something intelligent to say. I have respect for others who just have something smart to say. I have like no respect for a lot of the members that have like 2000 posts that have been here since like June. Thats nutty. But I don't really think post count has to do with respect because there are a lot of members that post four or five times consecutively in the same thread within a matter of minutes. I feel if someone takes the time to think about what they are going to say and can say it in one post that is a good thing.
