If you are from Canada. Go to Sport Mart. IT's cheapest there.

yeah but word of advice, if u're going to Sport Mart or Sport Chek to buy stuff you better know what you're doing because most of the staff aren't exactly the most knowledgeable on skis and try not to let them do ski service for you
that's just my humble opinion

HaHa! that is very true that most of them don't know what they are talking about. But getting your skis serviced there isn't bad, cause the Techs are the ones that know what they are doing.

ya man, I'm a tech at sport mart. the techs know their shit.
just as good as any ski shop tech.
i think it's because to do tech stuff, ,you have to be interested in some of the things you will be working on. therefore you will know something about it also.

they'll sell you womens skis, make sure you know what the mens skis look like.

Haha. Actually, SportMart does not even carry any womens specific skis, except for the very beginner ones, which come in a mens model too.

I had a guy at sport check tell me that the mad trix system was designed to make the skis flex better. he knew nothing abou them. same with thier bikes. the more expensive ones have 'better components'. I couldn't beleive the people they had selling bikes and skis there. I didn't talk to any of the techs, so I can't say anything about them.

u guys cant talk smack about stores like that. i agree that some of the ppl working at those stores are complete dumb asses, but there are ppl that acctuly know what there talking about(me being one of them). u can go waste your money going to independant stores, or do a little research, or talk to the ppl that know shit at those stores. If u go in, and ask for the person with the most knowledge, they will 9 time out of ten get that person for u. so just watch ur self

alright, i'll take my comments on their ski techs off because I thought about it and you're right, mine did a decent job. however, as for their sales staff, while maybe you are competent, the rest are not and I've visited alot of locations. and 99 times out of 100 when you ask for the guy with the most knowledge they'll go 'that's me' because they want comission. i've had really poor service from there and whenever i buy anything i always have to wait for the cashiers to stop yapping and then they ask each other if they want the comission on it when they didn't even help me. i've gone through the hiring process and i didn't get hired yet my friend whose a valley girl and knows nothign about skis or technical gear got hired. they hire based on who can sell more, not who can sell right. and going to local ski shops isn't a waste of money because the owners are right in the shop slaving and they will and have matched Sport Chek's prices for my friends. there's some accountability in there and it's great. sorry, but the majority of the Forzani's group staff make the minority of dedicated ones look bad, and I think that's sad.

I agree, well said. I don't really like the fact that I work for forzani. (I shudder to say it.) But I know my shit, and I enjoy teching. So, when you go to one of those 'big' stores, just make sure that you are talking to the right person.

thats what i was trying to say. i agree that 99 percent are commision whores. And i have never had any small store in my area(toronto) give a match on a chek price. They give mutch better service fo sho.

I know this is digging up an old topic, but I just wanted to say that I have the T-power Cobra X and its excellent. Its so nice for quick turns with nice rebound energy. Not so good in the crud though. Fantastic groomer ski. Your dad will be pleased.
