its pretty much meant for overclocking. that is what they are good at. I just talked to a guy in a shop here and he said that DFI has that requirement because most PSUs that people buy are crap. He was trying to sell me a Cooler Master 430 watt power suppily for $60. he said that would work fine because it has a high quality output.

ok well problem solved. I got an Antec 500 watt PSU. they hadent sent out my order yet so I called and changed it up. newegg lost some points for me though because of their phone support. tigerdirect is much better for that.

They just say use a 480 watt PS to cover their asses. With power supplies its generally quality of quantity. Most people dont need a 480 watt fortron/antec PS, but a lot of cases come with no name power supplys which are prone to crapping out.
The other reason is DFI is known for their overclocking motherboards. Overclocking increases the amount of watts used and therefore needs a stronger power supply.
Just make sure to buy a power supply from a good brand.
