somehow it became 'cool' to drive drunk, as far as my circle of friends goes. i hate it so much. early on in the drunk driving timeline, my friend 'ike' and 4 others got plastered. but 'ike' had just bought a new sound system in his car, and wanted to drive it real badly, so all 5 of them hopped in and were on their way home.
after dropping off justin (anathema), 'ike' all of a sudden deemed it 'cool' to go 80 down a windy residential road, with plenty of cars parked on the street. when the other drunk dudes began to object, 'ike' sarcastically remarked, "what, you think we're gonna die? hahaha..." and began swerving at parked cars, narrowly missing each one.
at this point, everyone buckled up, and clenched their teeth. ike continued on his little rampage of swerving, with the tires squealing at each jerk of the wheel.
in a fitting finale, 'ike' took one swerve too wide, and nailed an 8 inch curb, instantly popping his tire and coming to a screeching halt. the commotion woke up many nearby neighbors, and every passenger in the car shook their heads in amazement, knowing that they were lucky to have only a blown tire from all this. they got away unscathed, and learned their lesson not to drink and let a friend drive, right?
wrong. lately, anytime they go to the bars downtown, 'ike drives. when he's in a good mood, he'll make a promise not to drink. but that promise pretty much never gets fufilled, and everyone gets ferried home by 'ike', the dude whose most drunk of all.
its so bad now that it's become a normal part of the weekend for 'ike'. i dont stand for it, and always tell him to hand me the keys when he's about to drive drunk. however, he's the type to get angry and violent, while insisting that he's the best driver of all.
the moral of the story is, dont be like 'ike'. he's putting us all in a situation we shouldnt be, by driving while hammered. he justifies it by saying that nothing really bad has happened yet, and in doing so, is being over confident and cocky. the thing is, nothing good can ever come of this behavior...only bad. and seriously, it's only a matter of time.
so to the maker of this thread...pull your head out of your ass, and realize that when you drive drunk, the best thing that can happen is that you get home. but dude, there are so many other ways that you can go about it, so why drive drunk?
