No smaller the 1/4", depends on how much your willing to spend, 1/2" is what all the big resorts and stuff use, but 1/4" would work too

having worked with HDPE a lot in the job I'm at now, I cannot understand how you wouldn't catch an edge in it. I know it's used in some places, but it still doesn't make sense, as I can catch a fingernail in it at work easily.

well, having 3 boxs using this stuff, i havent caught a single edge, although we rounded the sides, so far its been A-OK

You don't catch because your skis don't really come in contact with the plastic. Most boxes have metal rails/coping running down the side that keep your skis from hitting the plastic most of the time.

well on most boxes i do i dont catch, but the coping on the side isnt keeping my skis from hitting the plastic.

ya, so your skis hit the metal bars and your skis flex in a bit and right around where your boot is, you hit the plastic

are you sure that's what big resorts use? i think lexan would make more sense, or the ultra high molecular weight sheeting, as it is less friction resistant. Also, for a 20 foot box, would they use multiple pieces and somehow weld them together at the seams? or what

so what ive gathered is that its not as good as lexan but it should work fine if i get the .25 inch
