Look vs. Salomon bindings

I have a pair of 04-05 Line Chronics (80mm waist) and I cant decide wether to put Look p12 or p10 or Salomon 912 ti on them. The skis are brand new and only have the holes Line drilled in them. I need to know what binding would be best or other suggestions. Thanks

i would put look rossi of some kind because i have never seen a pair break or wear out the only bad thing i can say is if you are big you could pull the heel out

well its all preference and past expierence most people on this site will tell you to go with look/rossi i will agree with that

Salomon are fine, I don't know why people give them such bad reviews. I've been skiing several pairs of S900s for the past four or five years and apart from bending brakes and cracking the part your heel sits on slightly, I've only broken them once (cracked the metal track on one), but it was fixed free very quickly by my local shop. Maybe the newer ones are weaker though.

That siad, I'm pretty sure I'm getting Looks this season because the do look and feel stronger, not to mention looking nicer. Nothing wrong with Salomon though, especially if you're light. Go for whatever you can get a good deal on.

There is a big difference between the s900's and the 912's. Mainly, the 912's only use one screw for the toe wing adjustment. This has shown to loosen up (opening the wings), in the past, causing people to eject prematurely. A dab of locktite seems to fix the problem.

i got S810 ti ..... never had a problem with em at all...they are cheaper as well but the p10s/ rossis are way nice my friend broke his last year though he rides so hard and does everything urban/park...all on one set of skis so that could be why

look p14, the only thing i really noticed diffrent with the rossi and look, is that instead of look it says rossi... i am not a fan of saloman bindings i own a pair myself and they aren't the greatest, my boot wiggles around in there sometimes and yes to everyone they are fitted to my boots

look/rossi bindings, are heviar but seem to last alot longer, salomons are light but seem to break alot morte.. so depends on what u want

i love my 912s because they are adjusted well.

but on my next set up ill get p10 or p12's just because they are less trouble. i may just go with which ever is cheaper. they are both good in their own ways. and 05-6 armada ar5's with look bindings will be the sweetest set up i can think of for the midwest/ many trips out west and east skiier.

my salomon 810ti's are super light, you just need to maintain them. the toepiece adjustment can get sorta loose, so every few days of skiing i check the screws to make sure they're tight. you kinda need to crank the din a little bit too, but they're ok. looks are heavier but less trouble.

Looks over salomon.

older s900 are ok, but s912 and s914 prerelease a lot.

Looks are the best. Only salomon to consider is the s916

yeah everyone on here rips on salomon. as long as you check the toe and make sure the wings are tight, you are fine. and they are much lighter than look/rossi as well. i can't really recommend one of the other, as i have broken both. all i can say is dont go with marker or your acl's will hate you for it.

it is a pain in the ass to have to adjust the wing screw on salomon everyday you go skiing.

when salomons aren't working they are a serious pain in the ass.

Look/ Rossignols aren't that much heavier and are much more reliable.

If you weigh 140 the p10s should be fine. But take into account that the p12 have no lifter and the p10s do. Im 180 and ride the p10s and have had zero problems.

i adjusted it twice the entire year. i ski probably 40 times or more. they work fine. but the original adjustment needs to be checked to see if they did all of the wing settings and stuff. its not hard work. shop should do it for free.

The Look/Rossis are the most idiot proof bindings ever made. You can leave them unchecked for two years, stick in a boot loaded with mud and snow and they'll still work great.

The Salomons are a little pickey with adjustments, but work fine when they're set up right. A dab of threadlocker will fix the loosening toe wing issues.

then you don't ski that hard, or you just have a very good pair.

I've had days were the s914 couldn't keep me in for shit, and I'd just adjusted them recently. They are just, IMO, flawed bindings. Some people like them, then they can use them.

At this point the only type of bindings I really trust are race room bindings as way.

ye i've got a pair of z races and a pair of p18s and a ton of salomons, i dont feel as safe in my looks cause they dont release certain ways. i beleive that the bst binding on the market is the salomon s916. all steel with look style heeltrack and sherical release!

do it for yourself and no one else

ive skiied them in powder, park jumps, rails, and they are fine. i definently ski pretty hard. i just got a good pair then. i did put some locktight on them after each adjustment...

I have to do the same thing with my salos.

I've owned quite a few different bindings. My preference is look/rossi.

they should fit but maybe tight, the new rossi bindings come with wide brakes so the new looks might too but i have no idea

i can see lock tight helping with the problem.

for me the wings in particular came loose after 1-2 days. very annoying if you forget to tighten.

if they work for you that is great. They just ahven't wored great for me.

like I said before, Race Stock bingins are where it is at

Salomons fucking suck tthe brakes always bend and they ejactulate-I mean eject premeturly all the time. Get the Look P12 Jib or at least a Look binding that goes up to 12. the are the best bindings I have ever had.

My spring seized on my Rosi Scratch 100 binding, and the healpeice broke off as well. Now I have salomon s912 Tis and I have had no problems.

I would go with the Look/Rossignol bindings. I have both and have had no problems with either.

But from a freestyle point of view the Look bindings are lower/closer to the deck of the ski which is better for spinning and sliding rails. It gives you a really direct feeling and they clamp onto your boots really well.

My Salomon 912Ti bindings are nice and light but do release a little too easily, especially when coming off rails sideways (i.e. when i screw them up). The wings can loosen up a little and may need adjusting regularly.

Salomon bindings are more durable than look bindins, I broke 2 look bindings in 1 month and my salomon bindigs are 2 years old still fine

I have the rossi power axial 100's and they are the best binding i've ever had.

I'm 5'11'' 165 and the shop gave me a DIN of 6.5
I actually took that down a half to 6 and they work great. Only pre-released one time (probably because I turned the DIN down a half) but in my opinion even though pre-releases are annoying, if i'm gonna fall i'd rather pop out than stay in. I skied all last season on them and no problems.

I've never skiied salomon binding but, thats normally what the other guys here are my mountain in PA ride, and they have had some minor problems, but you know nothing the warrenty didn't fix.

wow, for your height and weight that is a pretty low din.....

The nice thing about Looks over salomons is that you can run a much lower din on the Looks without prereleasing, so it is much safer for you knees.

and again, with looks the bindings don't have to be constantly check over and over.

Honestly, you best bet is with race room bindings. If you are serious about bindings they are worth the extra money. With race room bindings it doesn't matter is it is s916 or P18 cause they are both sick

s916's are as solid as bindings come. Just keep in mind they add over 2 lbs on top of s912's. P18's are lighter, but they can still break.
