Line's holes

Line has really stepped it up with the idea used on the elizabeth to use 2 sets of holes, 1 for true center mount, and one with a further back stance for pow.

this is something line should start doing to all its skis, seeing how its the only reason i didnt want to buy the reactors (other then durability). as long as the pow stance isnt too far back, so that its still possible to ride all mtn and huck shit a little here and there, starting asap line should do this to all their skis

Yeah, definitely. I emailed them last year saying two sets of holes would be a good idea and they said they'd be doing it on this year's skis but it looks like it's just on the prophets.

You could install two sets of helicoils on any ski and be able to change arond the mountain point. It would cost about $100 though and I'm not sure if an unused helicoil would seal out water. The flex and stength of the ski might be messed up though depending on where the unused set is. I'm going to ask some techs this winter if it would be a feasible idea if I could get it done cheap or free. Surely someone has thought of it before though.

The '6 pack' system is on Prophet 130s and 100s, Elizabeths and Mothership Flites.

Helicoils may work, although a larger hole would probably mess with the ski, as its a couple of pretty big chunks out the core. And yeah, as you say, unless it was done super super cleanly, it'd probably let moisture.

I still think that on the prophet 130 they should have made a 8 pack mount -- so that we could mount them up at core center. I don't know why they wouldn't just put 8 or more holes in all there skis to give more options. It could not mess up the durability that bad, could it?

On the preproduction Motherships there were only 4 holes on most of them. That's why the ones you have ^^ only have 4.

The ones coming out this fall are supposed to have 6.

There should be a generic binding configuration, then ALL skis should do what Line is doing with their skis, that would save time, money, and alot of extra bindings.

they cant do 8 holes because it gets in the way if you try and mount a regular binding on the skis

I'm pretty sure I read something about heli-coiling extra holes into existing 4 hole pattern line skis to get a 6 or 8 pack of inserts.

Do NOT do this. Just don't. You'll rip out the bindings, the heli-coils, and you'll probably ruin the skis, not to mention your body.

everything wpuld be so much better this way^ just think of it one pair of bindings for all your skis, being able to center mount one day then core center mounting the next

No, that's not what I meant, I'm pretty sure that would rip out though, even if you could get helicoils that big, because they're all in one small area.

I was meaning put 16 helicoils on a ski so that you could mount a Look/Rossi/Salomon/etc binding on them in different positions. I'm pretty sure unused helicoils in a ski would be bad for flex and durability though.

^That's a big waste of time and money when you can just get the VIST speedlock system, which does more or less what you describe for VIST bindings, and does it safely, without the worries of heli-coils and screwing/re-screwing bindings.
