I bought a new pair of Salomon boots, and I need help setting the bindings to the boot size. I think I need a chart to set it to the right levels. Can anyone help me? Do you suggest I just take them in to have it done?
Thanks

It sounds like you have no idea about bindings, so i would suggest taking them in. It would be too hard to explain.

Thats pretty much what I figured you would say. I will have the people at the ski shop show me how to do it for future work. I will take them in tomorrow

what i normally do is put it so the binding is touching the back of the boot when the toe is in the toe piece and for me set the din to 8 and i am set. am i gonna kill myself?

yeah and that is why your going to break your leg. there is a few things you have to do. first off you can't just line it up to the back of the boot, there is this thing called forward pressure...very critical. also if your bindings have it, there is toe height adj, adn the toe wing adj..mainly salomon. adn yes there is a chart to go by to set your din which considers several factors; your boot sole length, weight, height, skier type, adn age. also if they are used bindings it is smart to take them in to have them torque tested which to put in laymans terms determines if the bindings are going to release when they are supposed to. so yes take them to a shop.
adn good luck.

i dont mean to be an ass, but you need to learn some stuff about bindings man. if you dont know how to set up the boot sizing and forward pressure your gonna be screwed if you try it yourself. And the shop will probably show you how to do it, but if you break your leg or a binding it wont be under warranty because it wasn't adjusted by a Salomon Certified Tech. and i know this because I am certified. Best thing you can do is try and get a job at a shop and they will put you through the training. Later

Beign a certified Salomon tech is hardly a prestigious thing,
it's SO DAMN EASY to get certified. hell, I did, and that says something.

Thanks for the advice guys. I just took both pairs in tonight to be set. I will talk to them when I pick them up and have them show me how to adjust the bindings.

Curious, does anyone know where I can find that chart online?

do you know how to read the chart? and you should use a chart for specific binding manufactures, such like look chart for look binding etc. i would suggest just doing a search. if you would like to learn how i could expalin it to you. just message me.

go to a rental shop and make friends with the guys there and they'll show you how to do the bindings yourself
