Hey Guys,
This is Andrew. I just became part of newschoolers.com and am pretty physced about it, seems you guys have a great scene going here. This year I’m looking for some new sticks. I am 14 yrs old, East Coast rider, 5’9’’ and weigh 149 lbs. This year I want to progress, a lot. I want to bring my spins up to at least a 720 and start going inverted. I ski really hard, I like to go fast and I like to go high. I spend just about every day in the park. But every now and then I venture out of the park and into the rest of the mtn. So something that can ski all over would be great. I want something that is easy to throw around in the air. I want something that is responsive, both on the snow and in the air. I want a stable ski that makes for smooth landings. Also something that is nice and stiff for big airs and hard carves. I spend about 90% of the time in the park and the rest all over the mtn-groomers and pow when it falls.
This is wat I’ve come up w/ so far for skiis, if you guys could give me some feedback on these skiis that would be awesome.
*Rossignol Pow Air 178 cm*
Tanner rips on it, but I heard it was heavy. Last years was really heavy and soft in my opinion when I demoed it. At the ski show in Hartford I checked this years model out and it seemed light and stiff. It seems like a really good choice. Is it? Hard to throw around? Or would the 168 cm be better for me?
*Line Mike Nick Pro 171cm *
Mike Nick is pretty damn good, and I hear good things about his coming ski. I love Line as it is. But is the ski going to be too fat for the East Coast? Is it worth the wait?
*K2 Enemy 173 cm*
The stance looks really far back on these. Too far? According to the mags they are supposed to rip up everything on the mtn. I’ve heard the opposing as well as full swing agreements. What’s the deal w/ this ski?
*Dynastar Concept 180cm*
This seems to be the ultimate ski. But the 165 is just too short, and the 180 seems too long. Would the long length be a bump in my learning? Would the short length mess me up on big airs?
*Head Air 170 cm*
Olsson and Mosely occasionally ride this one when they’re not on the Mad Trix. It is the smallest of the bunch, too small? I heard it was badly constructed. Who knows something about this ski?
It’s pretty much those 5 that I’m stuck debating over. So anything and everything on these skiis would be real sweet. Sorry about the length, and thanks a lot in advance.
