their at it again. this time going after Sims 2. there are some downloadables online that allow naked sims.

in my opinion I think their getting cocky. going after a small studio like Rockstar is understandable but now their going after The Giant of the industry who has the biggest baddest fleet of lawyers around.

like I said before. these politicians just want money from these companies they want a pay off from EA.

He might eventually get to the Original Tomb Rader cause there was some nude hacks online.

What I really love is how these games are only offensive because of nudity.

He wont go after Manhunter becasue although you can kill people with cue stiks, and plastic bags and anything else you want it doesnt have nudity. so its not an offensive game. haha God Bless America yalll

now they are going to make it so that game developers lock their games so that people cannot make custom content on them! EA has nothing to do with nude skins for the sims.

games have ratings for reasons and if a parent gets mad because their child is exposed to a videogame, it is entirley the parents fault. maybe if parents put a little thought into what kind of shit they were buying their kids, they would be better parents, thus avoiging the shit problem that shouldnt even be a problem...

America is run by a bunch of prudes, and its always been this way. Look at the rest of the world, they embrace the beauty of the naked body, they dont shun it and make it taboo. But maybe thats because if someone saw the average american naked they would want to gouge their eyes out. But look at europe, there, People will walk around topless, nobody will care, you know why? because they're just boobs, nothing to freak out about.

It's funny that the sims 2 doesn't even have anything remotley bad, even with the blur disabled.

Heres a quote from www.gamespot.com, on the sims 2...

"Jeff Brown, vice president of corporate communications at EA, in response to the accusations, told GameSpot, "This is nonsense. We've reviewed 100 percent of the content. There is no content inappropriate for a teen audience. Players never see a nude sim. If someone with an extreme amount of expertise and time were to remove the pixels, they would see that the sims have no genitals. They appear like Ken and Barbie."

Thompson doesn't buy it. "The sex and the nudity are in the game. That's the point. The blur is an admission that even the 'Ken and Barbie' features should not be displayed. The blur can be disarmed. This is no different than what is in San Andreas, although worse."



Well, I guess his next target is going to be barbie dolls, because millions of little girls see them 'nude' every day.

The GTA Hot Coffee stuff was NOT a hack. It was in the game and hackers just found it and turned it on. You can see the same stuff on the PS2 version with a cheat code. That's why the government is pissed. And I wouldn't call Rockstar a small game maker.

yes it was in the game. so are sims getting naked. the point is that very easily without making your own game models you can have naked people in there. and the Hot Cofee thing isnt all that bad.

also Rockstar is definitly classified as a small game maker. just because their games have gotten aclaim does not make them huge or powerful. EA is huge. they buy game studios all the time. and got to where they are with nothing more than a really really thick checkbook that the smaller game studios such as Valve, Epic, and Ceralean studios dont have.

it does matter. if these games are AO then some stores wont sell them. less stores selling them means less people buy them less people buying them makes less money to the developers. that makes them realize that making these games arnt profitable. so they stop making them. and what are we left with: Barbie and the curse of ice mountian or whatever

Wal-Mart is The largest game seller in the world, period. if they dont have it the majority of people wont buy it.

other places that wont sell AO games are:
EB Games
Toys R US
Kmart
Costco
most big brand super markets

im glad that a select few can get it but the drug analogy doesnt work. for drugs they are made easily and to cover your costs you dont need a huge user base. with videogames you spend a 12-18 month creation cycle costing millions of dollars and when the game comes out you need a huge amount of money to come in to make all that time and money worth it. all that money can only be aquired with a mainstream market strategy which can only be achieved with shelf spots in the stores listed above. so not talking for you or many other people on this site I am talking for the 90% of Americans who buy there games in these stores

haha, you my friends have a lot to learn about marketing. Yes its true most record and publishing companies have given in to *Wal-mart* because they are the leading sellers of CDs and most companies have to sadly comply to there standards, which has greatly affected the creative side of the artist. But on the other hand, its proven that when rating are raised and kids are told that they are not allowed to buy a product, that just makes them want it more.
So i guess what im saying, is even though they raise the ratings on your little video games, its not going to stop you from buying it, will it?

^ it's more than just the video game. it's the principles behind it. how americans are so focused on nudity and sex, while in places like france, it isn't anything. he's saying, while there are plenty of games (manhunt and postal) where you can kill people 1000 different ways, considerably more grotesque than gta, the only games that stand out are the ones with boobies.

the issue was never me buying it. the issue is limiting the market so much that making the game just becomes economical suicide.

GTA has been my favorite game franchise since GTA 2. and I dont want to see Rockstar go out of buisness or stop making this franchise until they can no longer inovate
