Question for you guys that don't use poles...

So I could care less whether you use poles or not on the hill, I won't judge or give any shit. I can just say I will always use poles, as they are an integral part of skiing. BUT, I was wondering if you guys ever learned to ski (like proper turning, using pressure on the edges of the ski to initiate turns, wieght forward to give better control, pole planting, one smooth arc for a turn, etc.). I was wondering if some of the new generation of skiers don't like to use poles because they began on twin tips and never learned how to really ski, they just started out with hitting tables and rails. This seems like the most logical answer to me, as poles are a pretty important part of skiing, even jumping.
For those of you in which this is the case, I recommend you take a few days, and use your poles and get someone to show you how properly. I guarantee it will change your whole perspective, poles will really make you a much stronger skier, and could improve your jumping ability as well. I honestly do feel that those of us that started out years ago in this whole "freeskiing" movement will turn out to be better skiers, because we grew up skiing first, and jumping second. I still did a lot of jumping and building jumps in the late 90s, but moguls and racing was something that occupied a lot of time as well.

It seems the entire cheerleading squad is going to beat up the person who spoke ill of Gwen; they have put down their pom-poms, and they are now â??fired upâ?? to exact swift and terrible vengeance on Gwenâ??s behalf.- -AR_Six-

i also feel naked without poles. they help initiate turns, getting over flats, busting through trees etc
on moguls i cant imagine how screwed id be if i didnt have poles on me.
but, when youre fanging down a groomer i only use my poles like antennas out to the side, & sometimes i go poleless just for shits & giggles but no way would i go pole free on anything other than a green or blue run
