Whenever this topic is brought up, I feel its always neccesary that people realize that it takes an equal amount of faith whether you believe in evolution or creation.

I know im probably going to get some ignorant ass response like "Den WHy its We so MonKeYS sO close?@!' Obviously evolution makes sense in the short term, people had to evolve in order to survive. But how could something evolve out of nothing? Thats where faith plays a role.

So either way, faith is required in both beliefs and with that being said there is no real reason to argue. Nothing can be proven or disproven, all it comes down to is faith based beliefs and opinions.

You gave me absolutely no reason to believe in god, nor did it have an credibility to be used in an arguement. In fact man hasn't been searching for A GOD since the beginning, man has been searching for ANSWERS to the unknown. God was an easy answer because he solves everything by being "all powerful" Accepting religion in my opinion is taking the easy way out of understanding life and the universe

personally i never grew up going to chruch. so i can only go with what i have been brought up with and as of right now i dont know what i belive. I guess i do belive there was a guy(Jesus Christ) who did help people out and shit like that. But what i guess is the hardest thing for me to belive is that their is a "Supernatural" human being (God) that like controls everything and sees everything and does whatver god does. Also another thing that i want to beleive in but find it kindof hard to is heaven. i dont know i mean i really hope that when i do die there is a place to go. but whatever ill find out soon enough

Ya, that's a good point...

Sometimes I think spiritually, sometimes I only believe in what I can see around me. I'm what you'd call an agnostic I guess. In any case, "faith" is better than "religion." You can follow all the church doctrine and live your life by what the church says...that's "religion" but Faith is what gives you joy and rapture and connection (or illusion of connection) with life or a higher power, no matter what religion it is. Personally I try to listen to myself...you dont need religion to have morals. I think the church is too closely linked to religion, and people see trudging to church on sunday and sacrifices as what spirituality is all about. The universe is certainly strange, impossible to know, and seemingly organized. Whether you choose to call this god, or nature, its the same.

just because men have been searching for god does not mean it exists: what about alchemy, the fountain of youth, the holy grail, the ends of the earth, el dorado, etc. they searched for those, but none of them exist.

the only way to prove or disprove the existence of god is by him/her revealing itself.

people believe in god because people as a whole are stupid. if there was a true god all the animals would know it to and they'd worship it also but htey don't cause there isn't one. god is a figment of peoples imagination and was created from the early humans as an explanation for questions they couldn't answer or solve, it was an easy answer for many to believe and for those who knew it wasn't realy could exploit it to come into power, all major rulers of any major civilization ahve done this. ^ no thats entirely subjective. to suggest that all people who believe in religion are stupid is absurd. there are highly intensive theological explorations that are carried out and backed by substantial intelligence.

there is something to be said for those that "feel" an existence for a higher presence. this is something not based in faith, assumption or the inability to "handle" the unknown of afterlife.

so don't condemn it something simply born out of idiocy.

You bring up the point of evolution. Probably the most disputed point as to whether God exists or not. Lets take one of the most simple organisms. It has a flagella and cillia...we are talking about a single cell here. This single cell that is so "simple" requires 40 different processes to work simultaneously. SO you are saying that by natural selection these 40 processes just happened to come together? If you do the math the odds of that are 1 out of 10^80.....

Seems like evolution is a very likely answer.....

Oh and i forget his name but the most famous athiest in England recentaly stated that he has wasted his 80 years of his life disproving god and proving evolution. He said that the facts are too overwhelming and acknowledges the fact that there is a god.

I'm doing a two part segment.

OK so a strong atheist believer "converted" and now has faith in a spiritual being. That holds no weight toward an arguement of whether or not god exists. It simply means someone now believes in a god. You failed to mention what his "facts" are that acknowledge the existence of said god. His decision should not affect any other persons decisions on evolution vs. creation, or whether a god exists. He made a personal decision, just like we have all made personal decisions in his faith. I'm an atheist as well, and i'll keep believing my beliefs.

ok. how many supernatural examples can people come up with that have soemthing to do with god? nothing. if anything supernatural were to have happened it would have been recorded. and seeing how all the supernatural occurences were hundreds of years old, were they didnt have science to prove things, it probably wasnt supernatural. right now all that stuff can be proved by science. but of course there are still things like how ecosystems are so perfectly balanced and if something is removed or added it changes but it will adapt

The bible and christianity are but one part of hundreds of religions each with different gods, beliefs and texts. Out of all those other religions what makes the bible correct other than the fact that you believe in it? not to mention that countless believers take up positions of aetheism. the pope himself (or the last one rather) recognized evolution.

and yes biology is complicated. perhaps if reduced to a degree of simplicity you will see how unfounded your "logic" is essentially you are saying: "life is complicated, therefore god exists." this is but a simple assumption, in fact its faith based. it has no basis is science, which is a far more legitimate system of analysis than anything you're trying to suggest.

You deffinately have a point, Im still undecided in what I believe. But i have been educated in christianity and I figure ill take this side just for the sake of argument.

Ill go back to my first post, that either way it takes the same about of faith no mater which theory you choose to believe in. Many christians explain obvious evolution and adaptation as a tool of God. Not quite sure what this tool was supposed to accomplish, but thats their reasoning.

I pray every night and yada yada so I am ovbiously a Christian, and I do go to church every Sunday. But there is still that doubt that sticks with me. But right now I figure I have a win-win situation going for me. I can be a believer in Christ all my life, and if it turns out that in the end there is no God, I can be proud that I lived a good life and had good morals while I was here. But then again if there is a God, then im going to heaven. Its a sweet deal.

That’s really shitty logic. By there being a higher being you assume that everything will worship it. Pigs and lizards don’t worship humans. You are also making the assumption that “God� wants us to worship and serve his bidding. If “He� really wanted that, humans would not poses free will.

That kind of reasoning sees this as a cut and dry situation. Either yes or no, but guess what, that’s rather unlikely.

God, jesus, the bible, all just seem like barriers of morality that keep societies of people from going anarchist. I mean if we did not have morals to live by or an afterlife that was more than darkness, why would people live together in peace? I think the concept of god was created early on so that people wouldn't commit murderous crimes, steal, etc etc. for fear they won't go to "heaven".

Although what I said is probably obvious to most of you, its just my take on your arguments.

Science can really explain why people are on earth, I mean biology can explain how the earth was created, to when the first cell divided and how the first autotrophic organism evolved, and how the earths gases changed to suit humans.
