Laptop help

im looking at a laptop for school, LIGHT gaming, and browsing the net, along with other stuff i would use my desktop (family comp) for. im looking at a dell inspiron 6000 with these specs:

-1.6 ghz pentium M processor (533 MHz)
- 15.4 inch display (1680 x 1050)
- 512MB DDR2 SDRAM 1 Dimm
- 80 GB HD
- 128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITYâ„¢ RADEON X300 PCI Express x16 Graphics Card
- wireless card (a/b/g)


this comes to around 1,700, but there is a 25% home owners discount thing, so it is lowered to a final cost of 1,320.

i only want to play some light games, such as jibberish, UT 2004, and maybe CS (i was reading on anohter forum i found looking for reviews that people with the same or very similar setups as the one im looking at were having very little or no troubble playing these games, except nobody tried jibberish).

is this a good configuration, or should i look into a different notebook?

ya the pentium m is supposed to be a good CPU, so im not worried about that, but anything else i should know before i get it?

That is plenty, my year-old Dell 5150 could handle UT2004 until the fan started fucking up, and it has lower specs in almost all categories to that machine.

p.s. UT2004 is not a "light" game.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

well by light gaming i meant not alot of games, and that is the only non 'light' game i was looking at, so i decided just to say light gaming.

i get an hp...3.4ghz with 1gb ram and 80gb hard drive and 128mb video card for 1700...2000 with a 200gb external hard drives and his thing to put it in

wait, that I suggested is not quite as good. anyway, look around on the cyberpower site. i guerentee youi can find something just as good, if not better for cheaper.

^^^ it has intergrated graphics, which blow because they take away the ram for the vid card. i'll look around on the website more though to see if i like any.

ATI Graphic, Wireless, Blue tooth, dvd burner, Custom built like I needede
works fine with games, am very happy.

can get all that for like 800 bucks now. Compac / HP

what about this? before the deal i was getting was 25% off, but i found one for 750 off if its above 1900 dollars, so i started putting lots of good shit on it like 1 gig of ram, 1.86 pentium m processor, ect... and it was only 1360 (40 bucks more than the other one). here are the specs. this thing should kick ass.

these are all the specs

inspiron 6000

only downside is that the HD is 4200 rpm's, but they only offer 4200 rpm hard drive for some reason, it will have to do.

ya, they have plenty of good paltops without shared memory. i dont know if you will find a better deal, thats pretty good, but look on that site, it has always been a pretty good place to buy computers. and ya, like i said, i didnt realize that the computer you were originally looking at was better then the one i linked to.
