Chevrolet Cavalier! Anyone have one?

I recently stumbled upon what sounds like a good deal. I drove past a cavalier that was lowered and had pretty big black rims (sweet). It was only 1800, it looked like a more recent model. Maybe a 2000, I was wondering if that's a good price. And if anyone has one, do you like it?

Think about it. It's 2000 year model car that is getting sold for 1800. At the same time you could get 15 year old cars for more then 1800. Does this sound right to you?

well heres the deal from a dealer standpoint...
the chevy cavalier was discontinued a lil while ago (now replaced with the cobalt) so that means the re-sale value of it aleady dropped considerably. Dealers have been selling cavaliers (around my part of the country, PA) with a showroom price of just under 9 grand. and thats with a warranty and service plan. Now, GM just recently announced the "letting-go" of employees, hense the big discount that they are having. Chevy sales went up 41% because of the discout!! That means the price of some other chevy models will be going down.
without getting to involved in chevy's stock, and the position of GM at the moment...
i would say thats to much for a cavlier, even if it is a 2000. 1800 is to high to pay for a used, dis-continued, and popular (selling) car. I would try to talk to the seller and see if he would go for something in the 1500 or even lower range. I say lower because a car that has been modified (depending on what they are) will have higher insurance rates, then you take in the accountability for age, color (of the car, not you), state, region, and so on
1500 for a 2000 cavalier would be a fair price, but thats for a STOCK car. but I dont know how much work he/she put into the car.

Not to mention if someone lowered it and put rims on it and shit they probably drove the living piss out of it.
I laugh at those people when they drive by me in a done up cavalier but to each their own...

I own an 82 Jeep CJ with big mudders on it. When I bought it the seller told me he never used it to bog, although it had an airbrushed picture of a bumblebee mudboggin' on the side of it. Hahaha, yeah right!

my girlfriend has had hers for 9 years (she got it new at 16), about 130000 miles on it, and she has only put about $1000 in maintenance on it in that time. so a cav can be a reliable car, but who knows how the one you are looking at was treated, get a friend or friends father or someone who knows a decent bit about cars to go and check it out with you.

my buddys cav. i going strong at 245 000 kms. its a '97, the only thing that has gone wrong durrability wise is the fuel line needed replacing. which is easy to do with the purchase of a 30 dollar set of tools. and plus, you can get parts for them at any junkyard.

they suck, get a mazda protege, i just got to test drive a protege5 today, holy crap. such a nice lil car. build quality feels more like a 30-40 thousand dollar car than a 20,000 dollar car (they stopped makin them in 03). they are also sporty little suckas. they arnt tremendously fast, but holy shit can those things turn! as soon as i find one with a 5 speed in decent shape, its mine.

Its funny all you kids saying that they suck in snow... My parents have one, And i drive it around all winter, with allseason tires on it, and it handels like a charm in all weather conditions. My mom hasnt had any serious problems with it either. The computer onboard malfunctioned once and caused the engin to missfire, but the dealership fixed that pretty fast. I also aparently wear down the breakpads pretty quickly... But its been a solid car.
