i really don't know and i propably shouldnt tell you anything then, but, here's my one cent. Let him know whatever you got to and that you'll be there if he needs any thing at all. let him have some space but let your friendship and support be known.

when my dad died, i went into a shell for a while, and stayed in my room for about 2 weeks. The best way to be a friend is to offer anything helpful, your family could cook them dinners and stuff, just let him know that you can help with anything he needs

you know what.. words may not be the best thing. if you dont know exactly what to say.. i know that alot of guys dont really like to show affection. but if you put a hand on his shoulder just to let him know that you there for him and you've got his back if he needs you. and say that.. im here for you man.. it will mean the world to him to have someone there who hes close to other than a relative who is also hurting. someone who he can come too if things get rough in his house. because no doubtr they will after a death.. but just be there for him. and if he needs to cry. let him and be there for him while he does.

totally dude, that's what I needed when that sorta happened to me. My dad didn't die but got real depressed and turned into a real munter for a couple years, I hardly ever see him much now, but I think he's starting to get better. It's not as bad as someone dying but still hurts, he'll just need you around to talk to or to hang with and stuff.

It's sometimes hard to say the right things, just spend some time with him and be really nice, also add the I'm here for you if you need me stuff.
Make sure you don't say anything lie 'I know how you feel'. Unless your Dad died too. You may think you know but you probably don't and it could make them snap during such hard times.

My best friends brother died 2 years ago. he said the best thing we did for him was to be around. He hated being alone, he knew he had to think abut what happened but it was too hard to deal with alone. If he brings it up, talk about it...if he doesnt, obviously try to keep his mind of it. Ask him if hed like you guys to dedicate something to his dad or do something memorable in favor of him.
