Need help buying a video camera

i want to get a new video camera but i dont know much about them and what i need. ill spend around 1000 dollars and ill be using it to film skiing and stuff, so what cameras would you reccomend and should i also get different lenses and stuff too or what?

i just got an optura xi. its not a 3ccd but i really like it. i also picked up a wide angle lens that works great and i cant wait to bring it to hood. it cost me about 1200 from b and h photo/video but it was well worth it.

i also have an Optura Xi, and with a nice wideangle lens it can take some really nice footage. i would recommend it.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed -hoodratz47

yeah, the picture on optura's is super good, its by far the best 1 chip, and its colors have even been compared to that of a sony vx1000 (3 chip). ihave an optura 20 with a .5x lens and i love it

you should get a Sony DCR-TRV70 or 80, it will set you back about $1600, but it's a sick camera. go to www.buydig.com for lenses

and what effects do you get with what lense? like im pretty sure what a fisheye lense does but what other kinds of lensed do cool stuff?

holy fuck, it's another person asking about what video camera to buy.

jesus kid, do some research... it's been asked a zillion times on this site and there's an infinate amount of material on the internet to help teach you about videography and give you advice on what to buy for your situation.

^and the same to anyone else who is thinking about asking such an impossibly vague question.

i have a sony handycam. i like it a lot. its really small, and its got a touch-screen LCD. i use it to ffilm skiing and shit like you plan on. i got it for xmas, but it was 600 bucks. not bad for such a nice cam.
