use dreadhead hq, its definatly the best. and ya, i go swimming all the time. salt water is good for them and if you go to a pool thats jsut fine also. I went to south america 2 weeks ago and went swimming like every day for 10 days. my hair started to get a little frizzey but it wasnt anything i couldnt fix with some wax or some of the other techniques at dreadheadhq.com.

my friend tried to grow dreads in 4th grade and just ended up with a really greasy mullet

yeah i've been on dreadheadhq a bunch of times... and yeah they're only gross if you don't wash them or follow all the maintanence directions that you need to

i have seen many attempts, all have fialed with getting them, as for smelling, tahts a big 10-4

if you do them with dreadhead hq, and you wash your hair every other day like they say, they are no more nasty then normal hair.

ALL ELSE ASIDE...I used to have dreads and you can totally swim with them... but they get really heavy. mine were wicked fat and down to my shoulder blades and one time i jumped off my boat for a dip and between the tide and my dreads i got pretty wrecked. and you have to clean them like a mother fucker after because you can't have nasty water, sea salt, or chlorine and shit just settling in them.

and why would anyone reply to this thread just to state that they think dreads are gross??? what's the point?

I've had my dreads for almost 2 years now and LOVE them. You can swim with em. The only thing that is kinda anoyying is that they take a really long time to dry

the gross dreads are the ones that Rastafarians have because the Rastafarian religion requires natural dreads. if you dont wash or comb your hair they will naturally dread.
