FUCK SHIN BANG

I fucking hate shin bang, it really brings a season down quickly, I have been in 3 different boots and nothing is close enough to perfect and I still get brusies, I have a semi-narrow foot and I have been in Salomons and Langes but all on the bit lower side of pricing, nothing above $300. Do I really have to spend near $400 to avoid mean shin bang?? Please post recommendations

i have the same problem, i have had it so bad that i could hardly walk at the end of the day cause it hurt so much. i just loosend my boots the the top a little and that seemed to help, even though i know it probably isnt the smartest thing to do.

I had the front part of the plastic cuff above the top buckle chopped down. take out the heel screw (where you achillies tendon is) - if there is one. ADD BOOSTER STRAP and snug it up against the tongue of the liner and VIOLA!! works for the Lange boots....

My kid lands alot of stuff switch and swears by this method - I haven't seen any more bruising since the modifications. He is in Whistler now going bigger than ever before, when I asked how are your boots treating you? he said "fine"

As said above, get Booster Straps, end of story. They solved all of my shin problems. www.theboosterstrap.com I think.

Not only do they help shin problems, but it also adds responsiveness to your boot/ski transfer. They are awesome.

yea shin bang blows, the best way to stop it is to stop landing backseat, thats what mainly cuz's it and if you dont beleive me then tryin under flipin, front axis tricks

believe it or not, there are boots that wont give you shinbang. theres only really one type of boot, and they are produced by only one company. gove up? dalbello. they use a 3 peice shell (a third plastic peice is used for the whole top/front of the boot). 3 peice shells give you a TON of flex, yet they still ski very agressively, because they are incredibly ridgid lateraly. i 2 pairs of 3 peice shells, and i will never ski anything but. i would recomed the Line transfers if you can find them (better feeling boot than my Dalbello ZX supersports, i had to mod them a bit to get them to my liking, but the lines buckles arnt very durable.) either way, heres how you make a boot shinbang proof:


fuck with stuff until you can get the top half of the boot to "lock" when its completely straight up and down. most boots hit lock at around 80-85 degrees. this not only allows you to move your weight around more (for like butters and stuff) but if you do land backseat, it wont put the stresses on your shin. it takes a little getting use to skiing a boot that locks at vertical, but it has no ill effects, its just differnt (ive done over 60 mph on ice on Trouble makers with my line transfers unlocked, where they could bend back about 110 degrees). but yeah, thats the key right there, is getting your boot to be in a more upright state.if you can increase forward flex too, it gives you more cush. my suggestions: if you can find a pair of old line transfers, BUY THEM! they arent too hard to find on ebay, and they are dirt cheap. if not, get a pair of dalbello ZX suoersports, or Kryptons. you wont be dissapointed. i garentee it. i have never had shin bang in my lines, and i skied those for almost 3 years. and ive never had bad shinbang in my dalbellos, just a little soreness.

oh yeah, and bout shaving your legs, it doesnt prevent shin bang, but what it does prevent is the equally painful fealing you get after skiing where you hair has been grated off your leg by your socks. i shave my shins a few times a year durring the season (not my whole legs, just where my boots are, so you can prove to people you dont do it for gay reasons), and its such an improvement, yeah, its a pain in the ass the first time, but after that, it takes like 1 minute in the shower every week or two. its so much more comfortable.

I'm the inventor of the Shintronic. A device that knocks out Shin bang. Our dutch website is brand new (www.manoove.com) and I guarantee a solution. I suffered heavy from severe Shin bang and I had to quit, but I managed to invent this device. A friend of mine whois producing surf westsuits was the missing like for production. 4 factors in the designs helps out: (1) Relief of the frontside of shinbone with a gap between padding (2) the flat strong side of the shinbone rests against the innerpadding and deals with most of the power (3) spreading the pressure zone (4) neoprene has nice damping characteristics.
