Race/non race bindings

i know the look fk's have pivot toes and heels and the p series only has a pivot heel (not anymore), but is there really a difference?
advantages? disadvantages?

FK bindings, are slightly lighter than the power series. They are also a little more durable and have stronger springs making them last longer.

i do believe the pivot does help and look bindings dont pre release

The average skier doesn't need race bindings. Performance wise, I wouldn't need race bindings, the only reason I'd get a pair is that they last longer.

Yeah, for the most part race bindings are just a more durable version of the production binding with a choice for a stronger spring(higher din). Some comanies (like marker for instance) design their race bindings differently than they do their production lines.

I broke my z races 3 times, they are the same as rossi fks only Look.

Advantages: Light and high din (if you really need it).
Disadvantages: Weak heel piece and can be a hassle to step into.

Go look at the heel pieces on the race bindings, two small rods keep it together, i broke that rod twice.

^The fk 150 is lighter than a p14 it is a fact. You'd think they'd be heavier, but they aren't.

The race bindings are definitly lighter, compared to p12s or rossi axials. If you're not convinced go weight them yourself, or go ask a good ski tech.

You guys are kind of right, p18s/fks 180s, are heavier than any of the regular pivot/axial series binders though. All the others are comparatively lighter though (ie fks100s are lighter than p10s, fks 120s are lighter than p12s). And the heelpiece is stronger than the stock heelpiece that is just a fact, if you break the race heelpiece you would have stripped the track on the regular one.

Aslong as the heelpiece isnt completely turned backwards you can just kick back with your heel, then lift your foot up , kick in with your toe and click down normal and it works fine everytime. No hassle.

what do you guys mean when you say the binding kicks out? i know it pivots but do you mean it gets stuck at pivot point or what?

He means the race bindings dont spring back into their normal position and when you crash usualy they will end up staying in thier pivoted location, where you have to physicaly move them back to normal.
