Replying to Cigars

ok so i just got a cuban. its a punch. I don't know anything about smoking anything though. I know you do not inhale cigars, and it is my understanding that the tobacco goes in to your bloodstream through your skin with a cigar. But if that is the case, why do you need to light it? im probably just an idiot...

What is the best way to go about smoking it, and anything else i should know? Are you supposed to unrap the round end or leave it like it is? I really know nothing about this.
