Sex, instint?

i was thinking about how all animals are born and it is instinct to reproduce and they just know what to do when the time comes. however every human i know, either his/her parents told them about it or they learned from friends etc. i think that if a person was not educated about sex, the would not know what to do to reproduce. what are your thoughts?

i would agree cept my mom was telling me this story about a girl she went to college with who thought that if she slept in the same bed as a guy, she was going to get pregnant. i know it sounds dumb but its true. how do u explain something like that?

this is totally unrelated but the thing about the experiment to see when pple would find out about sex reminded me. they put humans in like a cave/ isolated building with no windows i think it was underground. anyway the lived there for a month or so and their natural sleep cycle was to sleep for 13 hrs and stay up for 25. kinda weird that that is what we would do naturally if there was no sun and stuff. of course if there was no sun there would be no earth and no people.

I will tell you from experience, that when you are in a situation where mateing is possible, Instincts can and do take over. It can be kinda scarry when your thinking No, we cant do this, I dont have a condom, they arnt on birthcontrol, and then suddenly all of that is gone from your mind and all you want to do is fuck and screw the consequences. Its in our nature, and it is very animalistic and irrational.

Civilization is a facade which hides our inate, irrational and somewhat darker human urges like this one. If we didnt have a society, just about every time we poped a boner, we would find someone to put it in, willing or not.

I remember reading something on here a while back about a couple, and the were married and both about mid 40's and the didnt know what sex was at all. They were both raised from hardcore christian families and were never taught about sex. So, i dunno. I guess they had no instinct.

Sex is instinctual but not on the same level as animals. I think humans and animals both have learned and innate sexual awareneses, but like you said, I think humans tend to become more aware of their sexual role through social interactment rather than instinctual drive.

Make no mistake though: humans have instincts to reproduce. We just have a much more complicated, convoluded justification for why we do it.

The world is the way it is because of what we are at our core, when we are at our instinctual best (worst). Our learned social behaviors play a role in things but our bottomline (whatever bottomline it is you want to discuss) comes down to instincts.

basically, every animal is born with a reproductive instinct that is turned on when they are ready. (eg puberty)
people believe all these crazy things (eg kissing/sleeping in the same bed as a member of the opposite sex) because someone with authoroty has told them this. people are the only animals to fuck up sex through innuendo and "dirtyness"

the human female is one of the only mammals to be able hide the fact that she is in heat. there is nothing such as a smell or a mating ritual that happens every month when she is most fertile. some believe that this evolved over time so the female will always have a provider for their offspring, even if it isnt the same as the male who biologically concieved the offspring. (sorry for the crude usage of the word heat, girls, but i used it to keep things in teh same frame of reference as other mammals)

I heard about this German couple who kept trying and trying to have a baby. They went to the doctor and he said there was no reason why they shouldn't be able to make one. So they waited and finally they figured out that you have to have sex to beocme pregnant...dear lord

from what I have heard it's not that they do not give of the odor which all female mammals do in heat, simply that through our evolution, the males of the species smell receptors are less able to pick up that specific smell....
