It's cool that he can get the actual tip of his skis in such a smooth trick. But come on. That looks pretty much like one of them "rocket" or "zute" grabs from way back in the day.
Why don't we just bring back huntonys and toxic grabs while we're at it.

I really want skiing to be the same, you know, for everyone involved. DO the same tricks, wear the same clothes, hell, why is there even more than one ski company? It should all be condensed so you can ride the exact same skis. You could also get a manual that would tell you proper grabs and the proper way to do every manuever. It would be great. Don't you share the enthusiasm for this great future I envision?

This my friends is utter sarcasm. In this day and age of virtual media overload covering the sport and a seeming desire by the masses to emulate what they see on their screens or in their mags, something that simply stands apart from the crowd is in my humble opinion, a refreshing sight to be had. I applaud Colby on not trying to look like (insert skier name here). That is an important underlying reason for skiing in the first place isn't it? Aside from the excitement and good times with friends, individuality is a key component. You do the tricks you want to do, the way you want to do them, you ski the line you spot through the rocks, because it is there for you to take. Why?? Because it feels damn good and it is fun as hell.

People, mostly skiers mind you, used to ask me why I grabbed my skis. Why did I just ride in that halfpipe? Why didn't I just ski down the hill? Isn't that stuff for snowboarders????????

The fact that there are individuals here who are getting amazingly defensive about other peoples' personal tastes and opinions about what looks good and what doesn't is pretty damn ridiculous. I'm pretty sure everyone's entitled to their own viewpoint...

Meanwhile I'm getting a bit sick of people reusing old rhetoric to apply to new arguments. Has anyone else noticed a lot of that lately? I mean, Schmies is dead on, if you think that looks good then do it, because when you start following what everyone else thinks you're losing a part of the point of this sport. But it's just starting to sound trite. When "Ski for yourself, do what you want, ski free and so forth" starts to sound like a rehearsed and worn-out motto, I begin to become a bit disillusioned.

Or maybe my headache has me in a poor mood.

I think that some people on newschoolers are like George Bush and many stupid politicians. They're conservative. People like the user who posted this thread refuse to accept anything that isn't a mute or blunt grab. Their brain can't function by thinking outside the box and appreciating new things, such as this dope grab. I think that skiing has stopped progressing in trying new grabs, until Colby West did this. Since skiing has not introduced new grabs, people on ns feel scared at the though of something new and different, making them people who always want things to stay the same.

Please read before saying anything, as I said before, clarifying for someone, that I never called this trick "bad" or "gay" or anything that would imply that I'm saying that Colby West even slightly sucks at skiing.
