IBook and a second monitor

I have an iBook g4 and i want to get a second monitor for it. How would I go about doing this?

buy a monitor, then connect it to the iBook. Then go to display in control panel or whatnot and configure.

you need to get an adaptor from Apple because as you can see on your ibook doesnt have a standard monitor connector like VGA or DVI. once you have that connect it to your computer Mac OS X will take care the spanniong if your video card is capable of 2 monitors.

yeah it came with that adaptor for like a projector and i know it fits the monitor cables

so you just plug it to your monitor. restart the computer and go into your display settings. it should be simple enough to figure out. if it doesnt give you the option to use both monitors then your video card cant handle it.

i did all of that and it didnt work...the video card doesnt support it so all it does is mirror the screen on the lap top....can i buy a video card?

nope. first off the regular big computers (apple towers: G3, G4, G5) have very limited amounts of video cards they can handle so upgrdability is very limited but your on a laptop. so forget about upgrading.

i got it to work...there was something i downloaded and i hooked it up and now i have 2x the amount of screen
