for english we had to read Catcher in the Rye, and I'm pretty sure it's the best book I've ever read.
I feel bad for Holden, because he's always so lonely and depressed. the scenes with holden and phoebe reminded me of myself and my brother so much. and I finished the book, put it down, and started crying. I'm not quite sure why, but the last page made me really depressed...just the fact that he's missing people he used to hate. so yeah, probably my favorite book.....I laughed and cried while reading it!

I didnt really see what was so special abotu that book. I read it for class last year... It just seemed like ok... the guy can write colloquially or however you spell it. But other than that, which got kind of annoying, I just didn't find Holden to relate to me at all, since he is just rediculous in the things he does. I cant relate to a character who is anti social and brings ill fortune upon himself and then is depressed about it. I dunno, just me.

catcher is such a great book. i haven't read it in a really long time, and i'm glad i never had to read it as a school assignment so i could actually appreciate it. brave new world is an amazing book too, i don't think anyone had mentioned that yet.
