sleeping in your car

I dont know if this is the right forum for this but anyway...Sometimes when I'm gonna ski the next day and don't feel like driving home I just sleep in my car for the night. I have this really warm sleeping bag so I never get cold but then the next morning all my gear is still wet. Like my boots and gloves and other stuff. So how do I dry it out? I usually just hang out in the lodge after the day for awhile and this dries out my jacket and pants but my gloves are almost always wet the next day.

put your gloves in your sleeping bag or bring a hair drier for the mornin...

there are these things call glove/shoe dogs that i use. you can get them at a lot of sports stores...they not only sort of dry your shit, but they are odor eaters too.

yeah, just use the heater. it will stink most likely, but it should be warm. and put some of it into your sleeping bag. or just bring two sets of clothing.

dude, just get technica boots next time you buy them, they have a thing called hot form, and you can plug your boots into your car to warm them up. its pretty nifty.

whenever I winter camp, I always stick my gloves and toque down my sleeping bag. It doesn't really dry them out but it will keep them warm for the morning. A plug-in hair dryer would work. Bringing a second pair of gear is most logical though! Or just steal gear from your local shop!

what do you guys do about your boots in the morning? 'cause they're frozen cold (for sitting in the freezing cold all night) and if you were to use the car heater it would take forever for them to soften up... stupid boots.

Plugin hair dryer???? That would probably work! Or hook them up to your exhaust pipe and drive into town to get a bagel with cream cheese and a large double/double. If you don't drink coffee, I'd suggest maybe a tea or a hot chocolate(classic winter drink) or that hot apple cider (shits a direutic though and you'll have to piss first chair so make sure you drain one off first!) oh yeah, then take your boot off the pipe and put the other one on the pipe. Drive back to the hill and take the other one off and you got warm boots, warm tummy, etc. Enjoy....

just bring yer boots into the lodge bathroom and stick em up to the hand dryer thing, that should warm em up faster than a car heater

heres what you do, for your gear, go buy some burton water proofing stuff, all you do is throw your shit into the wash with this stuff and it watter proofs your gear, that way it doesnt get wet and doesnt need to get dried, gor your boots you can by these boot driers which you put in your boots and plug in, you may need to rig up an ac plug in. also if you bring news paper stick tones of news paper in your boots to dry them, to keep the stuff warm just through it in your sleeping bad near the bottom or in the morning just turn your car on for 15 mins and put the heater on full, stick your boots by the floor heater while your putting your other gear on. Its not like your going to be last for first chair. Later

they actually make things like hairdryers that slip into your boots, and plug into the cig lighter in your car. they warm up your boots in no time flat.

i got my blazer all rigged up for buming it up. Ripped out the back seat, put soft foam and sleeping bags down, lots of pillows. All set up for going to whistler on my days off from baker. The truck is the last resort. First you gotta try on scamming on some hotel rooms with drunk chicks, then if all else fails you got your northface mummy bag waiting for ya.

as far away as he is allowed to park overnight :) Just get a hair dryer and an adapter for your car. Or take your gloves in the lodge in the morning and use the jet dry things in the bathroom if they have them....will only take a couple minutes and your gloves will be toasty

Thanks for the imput. Anyway I live in Spokane and ski at Schweitzer about two hours away so I don't like doing the trip more then I need to. Also my car isn't the greatest an old subaru wagon but it gets me up to the hill. I have a propane heater but your not supposed to use it indoors but I do anyway. The hair dryer idea is good but I need a plug-in to make it work. Also me heater takes about 15 minutes before it really starts working so I don't like starting my car.

yea a propane heater would eat up oxygen and stuff right? if you kept windows cracked though it would work i think. But yea i always wondered the same thing about boots. Other stuff like gloves like people said just leave in your bag with you then right when you wake up let your car run on full heat for a little bit and put whatever you want warm right by the stongest vent.

also, with a cigarrete lighter adapter you could plug in a 20 dollar space heater from walmart and that thing would warm anything right up

right now im working on a idea for warming/drying your gloves in your car, i drew out blue prints and stuff and im tryin to get it patented, its really a good idea but you have to have your car on and heater goin, its mainly for when you forget to dry your stuff and its still wet on your way up the hill, ill let you guys know how it goes
