Snowboard Vs. Skiier Outerwear...

Snowboard companies deffinataly put out the better looking outerwear. Although companies like Siver and Ninthward are finally putting out some better looking gear most of it looks like snowboard gear that has already been on the market by companies such as Burton(Ronin + Analog) Special Blend, Foursquare, NFA, Planet Earth, 686, Sessions ect..
I know im gunna get responses like " that baby blue suit Jon wore at X-games was sick!"
If you ask many people they would say its a dumb gimick to get kids who wanna look like there favorite pro's. Who is gunna miss a baby blue suit? Well who is gunna take a rider in one seriously?
I read the current post of peoples 06 get ups. About every response was oakley anorak with yellow oakley pants? Oakley really produces shit products, not as if they look bad (although some of the 06 stuff has me wincing a bit) but it just doesnt hold together it rip's easily and most of it is as waterproof as a paper towel in the rain. Seriously dont spend hundreds of dollars on a jacket and pants when you could get something basically the same as what you may want from last years snowboard gear...save your money for the hill!

I agree that you can get much better stuff for a LOT cheaper from Snowboard companies, and I wear almost exclusively snowboard stuff as a result of that fact. But you have to admit, even if you're not a fan of Oakley, that Orage makes really, really nice, original outerwear that looks great.

I agree that Oakley stuff is garbage and its way overpriced for what you get. My puffy pants ripped 3 days in. Their stuff is super stylie just not worth it. As far as buying board gear, if you are serious about progressing our sport you shouldn't be giving money to companies that don't give a shit about skiing. Good ski companies re-invest back to the skiing community. It all adds up.

I really like the new Ninthward outerwear, but then again I like some of the new Special Blend or the Roxy (girls snowboarding) stuff from last year. I'd just buy whatevers the cheapest and that I like (as well as being warm). I honestly don't think of whether it's skiing or snowboarding.
my bonfire pants are ripping, but I have a north face jacket thats going on 4 seasons I think, and its held up super well. I love north face stuff, even if their not core skiing, and I'd buy from them because they have lifetime warrenty and you know you're gonna get good shit with them.

I definetly agree with Orage being really reliable, as well, they're stuff is getting less pricey (for the less expensive lines, not the Masters) if you look for deals

the only stuff i wont wear is if it has a snowboard company written really big on it. not like snowboard outerwear, but the actual board companies. it just seems stupid to be skiing and wearing a burton hoodie or jacket or whatever

I'm hoping Burton will start sponsoring more skiers. Its started with RED and Anon, I think soon hopefully Analog and Ronin will start too.
Burton is such a sick company for both quality and style.
All I rock is Burton pretty much except my skis and boots; Ronin gloves, Ronin pants, Burton Jacket, Analog pants, RED helmet. I'd wear Anon goggles, cept I don't like how their 'mirror' lenses aren't that reflective.

Not any time soon i don't think^ In a interview with a head guy at anon he said that red and anon were doing this out of their own will but the rest of the company was still very much anti skiing...cant remember what mag it was in but ya.

I definitely agree with that one dude who said we should support the ski companies. I also agree that snowboard companies make quality gear, but support the companies that support the industry. Check out companies like Fate Clothing or Sessions. Believe it or not, Obermeyer and Peter Olenick and his brother designed a sweet pant this past year. I got a pair and loved 'em. Baggy, comfortable, great all over the mountain, durable, and great zips for cooling off the pkg. in the backcountry.
Support ski companies and let snowboarders support snowboard companies. Hell, most of these ski companies barely make a profit, so let them know they're doing a good job by purchasing their product.

ok lets not have this become another hate thread about kids who like snowboard shit and kids who like ski shit. they both have their ups and downs and if you're more about supporting skiing companies, thats awesome, if you're more into the snowboard companies because you like what the look is and maybe you have a tighter budget, thats awesome too.

Yeah, its all good. Where I am there isn't much for ski clothes anyway... No good ski shops, but a ton of good snowboard shops. Plus somehow I got sponsored by a snowboard/skate shop... They sell alot of Burton.

former snowboard clothing companies are picking up skiiers for their riders, as mentioned above, so its not even like its a battle between the two anymore
sessions, for example, is both snowboarding and skiing now, and its sick
