there isnt a single download program out there that's illegal the only thing that can be illegal is WHAT you download with it is what can be illegal. it doesnt matter what technology you use to transfer copyrighted data with all that matters is that if they want too they can sue you for stealing thei intelectual property.

the only thing that can be legally protected is the program or network saying that it was made for legal file transfers and that illegal file transfers is just irresponsibility on the users part not the program or creator(s) of the program's fault.

how is file sharing illegal? thats all p2p programs are. somebody buy's something, and gives it away to the rest of the world. he still bought it in the first place. sure, it sucks for peopel that lose money because now people can just download music and all that, but it was bound to happen...

and for those Canadians saying that their country allows music pirating because you pay some type of tax is just bullshit. Canada is not as backwards as you people claim it is they do respect people intelectual and digital property and there are copyright laws

you dont buy it you rent it in some sort. buying a music CD doesnt make the song yours buying a DVD doesnt make the Movie yours.

in fact this even goes further gaming consoles are not yours either. if you read your EULA (end user license agreement) if you buy a PS2 the actual PS2 belongs to Sony if you buy an Xbox it belongs to microsoft, if you buy a Gamecube it belongs to Nintendo same with the games they belong to their respective publishers.

all you are doing is renting it for eternity but if you missuse the hardware (such as reverse engineer it or mod it) their owners each have the right to take it back from you. not saying that they will but they do have the right too.

Copyright laws are very useful and are needed. if you were to make a ski movie and sold it for $20 you wouldnt want me to buy it for 20 dollars copy it and sell it to for 10 dollars. that would suck. im glad these laws exist

i agree with u

uh...using binary newsgroups for file sharing is not legal. the only reason it's been sorta under the radar is because it's kinda hard to use and most of the time you have to pay for the newsgroup service.
