I recall the Freeze travel guide issue this year with TJ on the cover had a super good article comparing the South and North Shores. If you can still find it, check it.

Kirkwood is amazingly sick... otherwise there's no reason to go to S. Tahoe. N. Tahoe has great terrain (Squaw) and some decent parks as well.

He said it. They compared the parks, out of bounds stuff, powder, and nightlife. Check it out. It covers it all.

Heavenly is so crowded. Their parks aren't bad, but I'm not down w/ paying $70 to ride park. Even Mammoth is cheaper. Stick to North Lake. People are just that much cooler too.

the north shore has got northstar, squaw, and alpine. South shore has got Sierra, Heavenly, and Kirkwood. North shore is just better and the 80 is a far better road than the 50. Sierra puts up a good park and so does heavenly but heavenly is littered with trash who go for the view but that leaves theres terrain park empty for the most part. Northstar has the best pipe in tahoe and its the first one built, squaw is squaw no explanation needed, alpine has sick backcountry and a very nice park.
and more, much more than this, I did it my way

a sqauw pass cost 1200 dollars and a alpine pass costs 900 or something, you can buy heavenly., kirkwood and sierras season passed for 1000 bucks, plus you get a northstar pass with it. and south lake gets more snow. kirkwood got over 800 inches this year.

Its in one of the old issues, I'f I find my old ones I'll scan it and send it over. There may be a way to get back orders...but with FREEZE being dead and all, the chances of that are slim to none.

NORTH SHORE north shore is definately better. if you want to only ski park, then you got north star, and if it dumps out, then you can go to squaw. if you are on a tighter budget, then you can go to alpine. the north shore is the best. and you dont get as many tourists.

Kirkwood might get more snow, but how many fucking times was 80 closed this winter? Unless you've got a 1 million dollar plus condo at Kwood, you can't get up there half the time when it snows.

Northshore for sure. You can get a Nstar pass for $250 and ski the best park in Tahoe and then get an Alpine pass for $200 and ski there on powder days and all spring after Nstar closes. Alpine closed on May 30th this year so you'll definetly get your money's worth.
As far as people go. It's California and people here are dicks no matter which end of the lake you are at.
