Apple memory

so i just upgraded my mac mini to 1 gig of memory and have the 512 stick just sitting around collecting dust. it's a Micron Tech. PC3200, 512meg DDR400 CL3 module (it's in a kingston sleeve, but that's just cause the replacement was kingston). call it $40something (or better offer) +a couple bones shipping? pm me if you're interested

ram is interchangable between PC and MAC just for your information.

keep it in case you have to warranty your mac mini. i'm not sure this is true, but by putting in the 1gb ram by yourself, you've voided the warranty. so if you ever want to warranty the unit, just stick the original ram back in and they'll never know.

no, they even say in the support section something along the lines of "replacing the ram yourself won't void the warrenty, but we won't be held accountable if anything breaks in the process of it"

no...the g4 uses ddr and the g3 uses pc100/133

lil off topic but..i have 512 in mine and just a smidgin away from getting a gb...how smart of a move in your mind was it to upgrade?

makes a big difference. before, i'd be working in photoshop, itunes playing, running word and excel, have final cut hidden, like 3 or 4 firefox windows and my ftp client running, and everything would just be super slow - virtually no free ram at all (checking the activity monitor, i'd be using 400 meg, with maybe 10 meg inactive and 2 meg unused). now i have a lot more breathing room - at the moment i'm running photoshop, 2 firefox windows, itunes, textedit, word, excel, ftp, and i'm using (meaning active ram) a little more than half of the total ram. if you're running slow on 512, definately get a gig.
