An end to our energy problems(?)

Wow, if that works, it would be amazing. I just hope that environmentalists would be ok with it. I'm sure somebody would protest it, saying it would hurt the ocean.

i thought it might hurt the ocean too, but then they would be pumping the water back into the ocean, so they really are returning what they took and there is no net loss of sea water (except in the power generators where it is evaporated into steam). But besides being energy efficant, it seems to be a polution free system, which is probaly its biggest selling point.

I think that it would be very intresting to see if his theroys about cooling and uncooling the root system of plants actually effects growth as much as he claims. At the very least, that would be very helpful for the agricultural indistury and with 3 times the yeild, prices at the grocery store would probaly go down considerably.

I just dont like how this guy wants to make profit off of it. I mean, he is 80. He will not benifit from the income that his company generates. So why not do it for the good of humanity, make a good name for yourself in the history books?

His statement that we don't have enough cold makes a lot of sense. However, one concern of mine would be the depth at which he takes the deep water. As is, the deep water channel has already been figured out/found, but that creates worry, because they know that it is shutting down, which would mean irregularities and fluctuating temps (arguably it would cause another massive ice age if it shuts down completely - even though they are now saying that we are actually still in an ice age). Now, knowing that there are issues with the deep water channel and its effects on global temperatures, I wonder if there has been any studies into the impact that even this "non-poluting" system would have on the deep water channel if it were to be instituted on a Global scale (as is, they know that the water in the deep water channel is VERY old, and have carbon dated the water in the deep water channel off of Japan to more than 2000 years old).

Very interesting but I can almost guarantee resistance from environmentalists. In addition, Craven is pretty isolated--in other words, he's standing out on limb raving about his brilliance without a ton of support (at least not documented in this article) from the scientific community.

The latter DOES NOT mean he's wrong, it's just important to be skeptical.

Also, we can use the power created by this to pump Carbon Dioxide down into the ocean, at very high pressures, Gasseous CO2 becomes solid dry ice, and it will sink to the bottom to remain there for a very long time.
