PLEASE HELP my iPod

Ok, I just got a new iPod for my birthday 2 weeks ago from my parents. I took it to school and somehow the screen shattered. I don't know if something hit my bag or what. Is there anyway that I can get it replaced for free or cheap. Does the warranty cover this shit, cause it wasn't a mechanical failure, it was the user's (me) fault. Considering it is like a month old, I still have full warranty. What should I do, and how do I go about doing it. I'm really stressed at the moment, so any advice should help. Thanks

yea, but what should I say. this is what it says in the warranty

This warranty does not apply: (a) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, misapplication, or non-Apple products; (b) to damage caused by service performed by anyone other than Apple; (c) to a product or a part that has been modified without the written permission of Apple; or (d) if any Apple serial number has been removed or defaced.

and I think I fall under section a

Call mac. Everytime I have ever had any kind of problem with my mac computers or ipods I just call them up, and I usually send the computer out to california, they pay for the shipping. I love apple.

You should have a year warrenty on it so they should be able to give you a new one or fix it, and if you dont have the warrenty for some reason im sure they can fix it for cheap instead of buying a new one

I got a similar problem except I put a dent in a case and not in a screen. I requested warranty and still waiting for their little box that they are supposed to ship me to send them my ipod.
