Mtn biking in portland?

washington park my man. people will bitch at you for riding the trails, but you can make laps pretty well. take the max from downtown to the zoo station, get off and your pretty close to the top. if you know the right way down, you will find yourself at the bottom max station again.

also, there is a sick setup hidden in the woods. some guys have put together some nice drops and hits. however, i didn't build it so i can't tell you exactly where it is. these guys put a lot of effort into it. however, starting at the elephant house road switch back is a good place to start if you want to find the hits.

and ya your right, forest park isnt that great. mt tabor has some okay stuff and if you spend some time there, you will find some good trails.

powell butte is also fun for a half day trip.

zoo trails got torn down a couple of weeks ago, not sure if anyone has built them back up yet

Have you ever just come up to the Rhododendron/Govt Camp area? There are trails that you can bike from Govy down to Zig Zag, in the forest which is fun if you're not afraid to be that far into the woods on some rugged trails. Easier if you leave one car up top and one at the bottom so you don't have to bike back up.

sweet.. thanks for the info guys. ill ahve to check out W park nest time I get a chance... even if the shit got torn down... that sucks.. ill check out govt camp when i get the time and gas money too.. any other info about nice setups or trails around or outside of portland is definetly appreciated.

If you are lookin at stuff outside of portland, it might be worth it to head up to ski bowl and buy a day lift ticket for like 15 bucks. They have some pretty gnarly downhill stuff and if you haven't been there before, I would recomend heading up there.
