Replying to Negative Account Balances

alright, so i went to the bank today to cash a check and get myself a new interact card. when the lady was putting in the check, she said i had an account balace of -13.50 or something like that. can anybody at all please explain to me how in all of gods great goodness i could have a negative account balance?! i haven't used my bank card in months either, and last time i did i'm SURE i had some cash in there. what the hell...
