Hey man...
Is it a vr6 or a 1.8T? what year?
I have owned a 98 jetta 2.0, a 2000 civic si, and a 98 vr6 gti
My dad used to drive a 99 vr6 passat and now has a new 2.0T jetta.
I've been around VW pretty much my entire life. There fun cars to drive, but they are expensive to fix, as many people have brought up in this forum. For comparison, i like my gti more than my old civic si.
It sounds like your budget is around 8,000. For that amount of money, just to throw out some ideas, you could pretty easily get something with AWD like a 2002 wrx or an A4 with quattro or something. So often people buy a car without really considering all their options, I know I have. If you're really just concerned about looks, not drivability, then this car sounds like a good bet. VR6s are solid and it should last you a long time if you're nice to her. If i were you, I'd look into cars with AWD.
