Help strode get over his girlfriend

it's been like three months for fuck's sake, and seeing her with the dude she's been dating recently made me realize i have to get over her. there's several problems though. for one, i work late late nights thursday through sunday, which basically robs me of my entire weekends. i just bought a car (not a hooptie though at least), so i don't have too much extra money to throw around on the nights i do have off (monday thru wednesday). all my hot female friends have boyfriends, plus they know i'm just looking for a non-serious fling or two, so they're hesitant to hook me up with any of their single friends. plus me and my ex were together long enough that i lost touch with every girl i'd slept with before her, so that angle is gone too. to top that off, i live in a college town, and it's finals week, which means 75% of the eligible hotties in town are moving away for the summer. i have a lot of good shit going for me (college degree, nice car, kick ass dog, not hideously ugly), but i'm kind of stumped (like rainforests) as to how to meet and hook up with new girls with no weekends and little money. i'm usually the guy that you want to bring home to your parents, but i'm going to try not to be him for a while, since that's who i've been for the last four years and two girlfriends. i know i'll probably just get flamed for posting this in NSG, but whatev, i'm just looking for some suggestions, so if any of you girls and guys have any, they would be much appreciated.

I don't necessarily have much experience with getting over girls because for some reason I pick the neurotic one's that drive me nuts and I don't even give a shit about them by the time we break up (actually I give a shit but I'm just not attracted to them) but... I know a lot of people who have gotten over girls.

1) Most say that chillin' with friends is key. (I hope you weren't one of those dudes that ditched your friends for your girl cuz it'll be tough to get them back and if you do it will be awkward.)

2) Finding a new chick always works. Since you don't really have the option of clubbing, try joining a gym or frequenting a nearby beach.

3) Talk to someone who's gone through something similar and take their advice. My buddy broke up with his gf and spent countless hours confiding and comparing stories with another friend who had just gone through a similar thing.

4) Finally, and I find this works well for me when the relationship is coming to an end: try not to think of them at all (I know it may be hard) and when you do, just trash talk them in your mind and then quickly try and occupy yourself with something else. Eventually you'll convince yourself that she was never good enough for you and you'll be able to move on.

I broke up with my gf just a couple months ago. It was a rough one.

I could tell you a lot of things, but here is a short list:

1.) Stay busy. Do your own thing, move on with your life. Read, write...just don't sit around feeling sorry for yourself (I'm not saying you are).

2.) Hang out with friends.

3.) Every conflict yields both positive and negative results. Focus on the positive aspects of breaking up. For example, now you can date as many chicks as you want, stay out with the boys all night, pick up your shit and leave. In other words, you have more freedom now. That's not to say that the relationship wasn't worth not having those things, but keeping focused on the positive makes things a lot easier.

Ok, that list wasn't that short...fuck. Oh well, hope it helps.

Convince your friends that you're definitely the guy to hook up with their friends. Do this by taking them out to lunch and rubbing their arms. Also, tell them that you want to stroke a girl's hair and that you would also buy them a doormat for christmas if/and they feel like letting you in the door.

Additionally, it often helps to lick your friend's forehead. They will think that this is a sure sign that you're totally the guy.

OH WAIT. Seriously though, poison your hot friend's boyfriends drink/dinner and then you are set. But make sure the guy is a douche and that you are okay with the homicide/girl exchange.

NO FINGERPRINTS.

Unless that's what turns them on.

Dude, I know what you are talking about. My girlfriend and I broke up 3 months ago and I'm still not completely over it. I was really really into her, so much more than anyone else...ever. It was so hard living without the physical closeness for a while, and like you I had lost contact with many of my female friends becuase I had been with her for a while. It has been hard man. I'm moving soon, so I think that will help.

forehead licking and dirty prostitutes....i like where this thread is heading. but thanks for the suggestions so far. i'm not really too thrilled about the idea of hating her, but's it's probably what i need to do. i'm more looking for suggestions on how to meet new chicks without really having weekends or money, and not so much ways to forget about my ex. i already don't talk to her anymore.

go to shows. i will say from firsthand experiences if i go see a band, wasted, i want to dance with people. (guys) and i've met a lot of cool guys just from dancing with them at a show. or clubs if you're into that. but around here i kind of associate the club scene with VD.

yeah the club scene here is non-existant, but there's a huge bar scene, it's just all the bars with good drink specials get filled up with frat guys in pink shirts and chicks that are honestly too dumb to make me even remotely attracted to them in any way, no matter how "hot" they are. dumb chicks suck in bed anyway, and usually they aren't smart enough to have protected themselves in all their past relationships either.

idk, i had a girl that i was really into shoot me down and then come to find out that my buddy that i'd told all about her was in the process of hooking up with her before i even got to ask her out........ that fucking sucked.

it took me wayyy too long to get over that, but my solution was to gather a bunch of people i knew i could trust, and had a string of parties that i semi-remember. freinds are the key to dealing......

as for meeting new girls, when you figure it out do let me know. i've got one girl that i'm into right now, but if it goes anywhere it could open a pandora's box of problems within my group of friends......... uggggh.

Newbie hit the nail on the head. Go out with your friends have a blast, but what ever you do don't look for a girl let them look for you. Once you get a few girls interested in you the rest is like taking candy from a baby. Don't talk about your past relationship, if questioned about it(cause it will happen chicks always want to know why you are available) just say things like it didn't work out so YOU BOTH thought it would be best to move on. Get into how you love being on your on and hopefully if your convincing enough the girls will come running. Girls love a challenge, but not too much of a challenge. Snatching a guys freedom is the challenge you just have to present it to the right girl, rehabing a fucked up personal life is not a challenge. Be postive and act like you can take them or leave them. Good luck

Anyways, strode...

I would suggest spending a couple hundred bucks on an old Tascam analog 4-track and a cheap mic and sit in your room and record an album. The day I broke up with my g/f of 1.5 years I hung up the phone and recorded for 11 hours that day. It was great. Took my mind off it and everything... Go do all the stuff you weren't able to do when you were with her. Chances are you'll meet someone that is better suited for you in that situation!

Well its good to see that SOME newschoolers are helpin ya out man.

But dude..in that situation, it doesn't seem like there is much to do at this point.

Just chill out and relax, and something will come along while you aren't even looking for it. Just seems like whenever you TRY and look, nothing is there...as soon as you just relax and stop looking, something should pop up. At least thats my theory.

^i'm working on that one....but i make good money and i'm in a lease for another year but don't want to get a "real" job in the place i live in now.

and it's not really that i don't know how to pick up chicks, i don't have too many problems with getting them to want me. i'm actually pretty convinced that i could pick up just about any girl if i had the opportunity to talk to them for a little while, it's just finding that opportunity that i'm having trouble with.

and SNOWMAN, it's CSU, not western (and i graduated in dec anyway), but that's at least twice as good of news for CB-BC hucker right? hook the guy up.
