people who ski have lives other than skiing. for skiers, skiing = life.

Are you implying that someone who works full-time at something unrelated, but still manages to get 45+ days on the snow is not a skier?
I'm concerned about the underlying tone and suggestion that only those who pursuit of snow (and sponsorship) 24/7 are keeping it real and the rest of us are merely dabblers.
I'm envious... ah, to have the time back and make different choices.

No, the point is that there are people who just ski and then there are people who ski.

I'm a skier cause i pratice skiing as a sport. My aunt is a girl who ski cause she is only skiing ebry once in a while.
So if someone go to a mountain and take a ski lesson and get some rental skis he is a guy who ski, but if he continu to ski afterward, he is a skier.

you do not need to be skiing 8 days a week to be a skier. You just need to be into the sport and not just trying it.
I cant really expalin my tought about that correctly, stupid fact that im a french canadian, at least, im trying.

I understand what he is trying to say. there is a difference between the ability and the drive to ski. that is sorta how I see it

Doesnt matter how much you do it. A skier is passionate about the sport. A person who skis does it cause its there. They may still like it but are not passionate about it.

the difference between a skier and a person who skis is more or less the attitude. if you are at the resort just to be there than you are a person that skis. where if you are a skier you are at the resort to ski and chill with your friends and enjoy what you are doing on the hill.

i don't think you can say how many times you have to ski to be a 'skier.' it has to do with they way you feel about the sport.

I have found that most skiers are broke. I have just enough for skiing and schooling. If I didn't ski and was happy without an education I would have soo much money to blow.

ok, here's my thoughts on it...
i am a skier, and i have been my whole life. there is nothing that i like more than goin up to my hill one day and just spending the whole day on the slopes. but my friend once told me he was a skier, so i met him up on the hill and he sucked. i found out he goes about 1 time every other week, and he's not devoted to it like me. he is just a person that skis.

man, i spend all day thinking bout skiing. im building a park in my yard so i can ski more. i AM moving to whistler when i turn 18. i live to ski. in the summer, i bike cause its by far the closest sport to skiing. and i longboard so i can get that awsome feeling and just chil. its not about how often you ski, its about how dedicated you are to skiing.

Being a skier is more a lifestyle than a sport. the way you act off the hill, who you support, what you do, what you think about. all this is almost more relevant than onslope skill. ( as far as being a skier goes)

Being a skier isnt about how many times you go to the mountain or how good you are, its the will to give up anything to ski, to want it more than food, its the first thing you think of when you wake up and last thing you think of before you go to sleep and what you dream about (I'm imagining its alot like being in love), girls come second to skiing (yes, even ones that put out). Being a skier is one simple thing, understanding the passion, a person who just skis doesnt understand why we do it, thats how you know.

Being Irish, I guess I should resent the Notre Dame nickname 'The Fighting Irish.' After all, how long do you think nicknames like 'The Bargaining Jews' or 'The Murdering Italians' would last? Only the Ironic Irish could be so naively honset. I get the feeling that Notre Dame came real close to naming itself 'The Fuckin Drunken, Thick-Skulled, Brawling, Short-Dicked Irish'

1080enemy is wrong. Skiing is not how you behave off the slopes it's how you behave on the mountain. Met a few really great skiiers who turned out to be average nerds in their other lives. But still they really love skiing and that's about the only thing I wanna do with those dudes.

A skier is someone to whom skiing is not just a sport...it's a passion, a lifestyle.
Someone who thinks day and night about skiing...rejoices at the first signs of snow...
And just plain old LOVES
skiing.
I think I've been able to give back to the sport a little bit by my job as a ski instructor...
It's so awesome to see people getting turned on to the sport we all love.

if you pass up sex to ski then you are probably a skier
or if you eat peanut butter for 2 weeks straight nothing else not even bread to go along with it to buy something involved with skiing then you are probably a skier
not that these are the only two things, but you get the picture

Skiing is the sport
Skiers are those for whom the sport is more than just going up the lift and coming back down
