Hello,
Has anyone done a paper on violence, and if possible, on mass media. Eg: how kids seeing guns on tv is making them more violent or whatever that looks like it....tv, books, anything....

Yes, I have. From the the sounds of it, you're planning to argue that the media affects us negatively and has direct effects on our behavior. There's plenty of material on this subject. If you have access to a university library I'd recommend searching their databases.

i havent wrote a paper on it other than a 3 or 4 page essay on my final two days ago, but i certainly studied the cause and effect of mass media this semester.
with that being said, i have a few words of advice. be sure to mention the functionalist and behariouralist theories, and how directly or indirectly a stimulus will lead to a response. talk about whether the media is strong and our minds are weak, or vice versa. mention whether media controls are necessary or not. those are some of the key concepts for sure. if you want more in depth help, pm me.

mass media influences us because we take it to be true and over time it establishes the norms, rules, and values of society that we come to accept. in terms of violence, we see it portrayed on tv/movies and we then being to think that it has somewhat become a part of our culture and that it is acceptable.

I JUST finished a paper on adolescent violence, but it was a book review so it likely wouldn't help you much.
It shouldn't be too hard though, sounds like it's basically a matter of opinion in your case. Just write what you think... maybe think for yourself?
