Cutting Glass

alright so my gf just got back from quebec and brought back some maple syrup and one of the bottles would make a perfect glass bong so im gonna steal the bottle from her and make one but cutting the glass is the part i need info on so where do get a glass cutter or is there another way to do it??

cutting any glass thats not flat is a pain in the ass...your best bet is to get a dremel tool and some diamond bits and go at it carefully...practice on a few other bottles first

ok iv done this before but its realy tricky the first time i did it tried to cool the glass in water exploded go to weed.com and look through their forums they tell you exactly hoe to do it

here's how you do it, I made one with an ammeretto bottle (curved and pretty thick- the slim one with the red cap) It worked pretty well the hard part was starting I used a small 3/8 chisel and got a small little dent going in the glass. after that I just started turning the chisel in the glass (I didn't have a drill at the time!) then when the hole got a bit deeper and I got fed up with doing it the slow way. So I just tapped it with a hammer and chisel and it made a small hole but cracked the bottle a bit, no leaks though.

So just get a few good drill bits, just take your time and don't apply too much pressure at once. Go with a smaller bit to start and make the hole slowly bigger with bigger bits, you could fuck it up if you try to make the hole bigger by drilling sideways.

dremel and a glass cutting bit, score it first then just work away at it

or if you have an oxygen/acetalyne torch, just hold it there till it burns through

oh ya and to make the initial "dent" I basically scraped the glass to get a groove, tapping it to start dent won't do shit.

they have bits for drilling ceramics and glass at most hardware stores, the look like an arrow head and just sort of scrape it away slowly. just go slowly and don't put a lot of pressure. it took me about 20 minutes to drill one 3/8" hole in a jack daniels bottle.

I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Use Silicon Carbide for it. Its Network Covalent #1. Meaning its the hardest substance on Earth. It can cut glass and diamonds. You could probably go to Home Depot or Home Hardware and borrow a Silicon Carbide tipped drill or saw.

if you go to a glass store (ours is Portland Plate Glass) you can buy a glass cutter there. It's just a really sharp circular blade. Works like a charm. Can get them for pretty cheap

whoa whoa whoa diamond drill?? lat just go into your local hardwear store and ask them for a glass-cutting-drill bit. Costs about 12 bucks. I asked them the other day but the vase i was gona make into a bong was too fragil.
