rail... grease? just wipe it down with a chunk of snow b4 you slide it. just as good as using curb wax with rollerblades

maybe sand them down on the top with some sand paper or somethin...then paint them up...

if it's already rusted you would be best to grind it down and then paint it if you wish. but certain paints make the rails really sticky or in some cases really fast. buff it out with a grinder (your dad prolly has one) and then take and old ski and rub it up and down the rail like mad...if you keep sliding it often it wont rust and you wont need wax (which would just come off onto your edges anyway)

sand like 1 mm off the top then put a little bit of actual wax on now, then in the winter put snow on it.
