Salomon Bindings

ive heard they're bad, whats so bad about them
i need bindings, and the c607s are on sale cheap (i weigh 75 pounds so i need juniors or ones with din 3-10)
if anyone has salomons how do they work?
and anyone else what do you know about them thats good or bad?

i love them for carving and free ride in the park there ok but a line, tyrolia diagonal, or look/rossy p series is best for the park.

i have salomon bindings. they're kind of fun actually. i went over a roll once in the glades and my ski fell off, so i skiied for about 200 yards on one ski.

oh, and this other time, i landed slightly backseat after pulling a 3, and both of my skis came off, leaving me still standing, skiing off on my boots. it took me a few seconds to even realize what happened. i have more great salomon stories, but am too lazy to type them up. don't ask me why i have these bindings because they are honestly the bane of my existence.

my old bindings used to pre release so early in the park. 540's i'd come outa nd land on my face. just pre relasing was the biggest issue, and when you came out switch the brake would bend and you wouldn't be able to get it back up to ski again

my salomon binders perform flawlessly but u need ot run them on a higher din than a normal binding like if u are running 7 on something else go to nine on a salmon, plus u need to tighten up the wings alot. but i fell sfer in them than my p18, p14s

do it for yourself and no one else

the older and the new race/greenspring salomons are pretty much bombproof. other than that, i've seriously had nothing but problems with salomons in the park.

I have them, performed great last season, then this winter I started pushing them alot harder and had problems.

It started with my DIN being set to low, so i Moved it up to 8.5 in the nose piece, and 9 in the heel. Which seemed to work alright, then at Okemo early season on the 40 and 50 footers, if I landed backseat at all, they would release. Next problem was off a small 10 foot flat rail, landed BARLEY, literallly unnoticable, and the released. I had alot of release problems all season long. Also when I was in some glades skiing some new snow, they kept releasing and I was skiing gladed for about 20 feet with one ski, no fun. Also any tail buttering, or just flexing the back of the ski hard would mess them up too.

Next year, the skis are going to be mounted with p12 Jibs, and Rossi Power 120's.

The only Salomon binding I did enjoy riding were on a pair or Chronics and 1260's I demo'ed at Windells. They were the s912 Ti's, their higher quality, higher priced S Bidinging.

If you can, demo different skis with different bidings, see how the react.

save your money for the scratch 100s, or the p10s. it is worth it. i dont touch salomons with a ten foot pole, and ive actually heard mike wilson say they explode, and he rides for salomon

^i bet mike wilson exploded them but i know the salomon pros use them (except maybe mike wilson) but i bet they use s912 of s916s, and i need ones with 3-10

My s912's have been awesome, i love them cause thay are so ligth. I think the biggest issue with salomon bindings is knowing how to adjust them. Once you get that down you should be good to go.

The reason everyone pre-releases in the heal with salomons is the forward pressure is off. The reason they pre release in the toe is the toe height or wing adjustment is off. It doesn't matter how high your din is if your forward pressure is off or you toe height/wings are off, you're going to pre release.

The biggest problem with salomons is plastic. The s916 are metal and they rock, but all the other newer bindings are plastic. They break down after a year or so. The rear screws in the binding pull through the washer if remounted more than 2 times. Also, sometimes out of the box the wing adjustment is broken.
Both heal and toe peices snap because the plastic breaks down as well. There are just to many moving parts and adjustment that come loose every week on salomons. If you have drivers or s916 you're all set though.

If interested, I will post a small lesson on how to adjust salomon bindings correctly. Let me know.

i have had salomon bindings on the last 4 pairs of skis i used. s912 ti on two of them and s914 FIS on the other two. they both worked super well, and the 912 ti's were outlandishly lightweight. like whoever said already, adjusting them is a bid deal. if you dont, they will seem loose in the toe region, and they will release early. know how to use forward pressure and toe wing adjustments and you will love them more than anything.

ya salomon has been makin these things for a long time. i've been on em' for about 10 years now and have yet to have any problems.

i used to have salomon bindings... the toe pieces used to loosen all the time and that was bad.

I've been riding the s912 ti's for two years now, first on a pair of candides then on my fujatives...having them adjusted by a tech is the WAY TO GO. I had numerous problems trying to adjust them myself after getting new boots. I'd say that if you end up with Salomon, make SURE they're adjusted by somebody who knows what they're doing. I know I didn't
